City Of Cambridge Brass Band Youth Academy

A new Youth Academy for talented young brass band players in the Cambridgeshire area. Players must be 18 or under and play at Grade 5 standard or above.

The City of Cambridge Brass Band Youth Academy is able to offer coaching and training to young brass players which is unparalleled anywhere else in the area. Members of the 'senior' band have a wealth of professional playing and teaching experience at the highest level. This includes instrumental teachers currently teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Saffron Centre for Young Musicians (a division of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and various independent schools within Cambridge. Others include a former Head of Brass at the Royal College of Music and highly experienced classroom music teachers including Classic FM's 'music teacher of the year' 2013. Professional playing experience, which can be passed onto the youngsters, includes major London orchestra, West End and national touring shows, His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts, Top of the Pops and even recording with the Beatles.
