Hi guys! We're looking for pub crawl guides to join our team! If you're interested send a CV to info@cityofedinburghtours.com with the title "Pub Crawl Guide Application".

User

We're running a special haunted graveyard tour this Halloween. Trust us, you won't want to miss this.

User

In October of 1788, Deacon Brodie was hanged at the Old Tollbooth Jail. 230 years later we're lucky enough to have him working for us. If you book with us at our ticket office on the Royal Mile you might be lucky enough to meet him.

User

“This Halloween, experience a side to Edinburgh you may have never even thought about. This in-depth tour will cause delight and fright as you follow your guide through the seemingly quiet graveyards. But who really knows which monsters lay buried right beneath your feet, and are they truly resting in peace?”

User

This Halloween dare to do something a little bit different. City of Edinburgh are doing a haunted graveyard tour. Are you brave enough?

Do you recognize the setting of this photograph? It was taken some 175 years ago by David Octavius Hill or Robert Adamson - two pioneers who opened the first photography studio in the city of Edinburgh in 1843.

User

And we have a winner! Dr Knox's reflection has brought Kade the £100 prize. Congratulations, and thank you to all who entered! Keep them coming, we love seeing your photos 😊

User

On this day in 1736, an angry mob entered the prison where John Porteous, Captain of the city guard, was being held for his role in the riots that had taken place five months prior. What unspeakable things did they do to him?...Come find out from the man himself!

User

Morag is ecstatic about the fact that we have received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the third year in a row! It would not have been possible without the brilliant reviews of our visitors, so thank you from the entire team, along with our head ghost, of course! #2018COEProud

User

Happy 268th birthday to Robert Fergusson, Scotland's forgotten poet, whom Robert Burns saw as a personal inspiration. Do you know where in Edinburgh you might find him, should you want to pay a visit? Hint: the location is visited during our 2PM Historical Tour!

User

Whether it is a wedding party, a summer school group or a family reunion, we can organise a private tour suitable for your needs. Drop us an email or a Facebook message to discuss the best options for your group. Private tours can be offered in different languages!

User

Good news, everyone! After a month's break, the Ultimate Pub Crawl is back tomorrow! Come along, meet new people and experience authentic Scottish pubs every Thursday to Saturday.

User

And that's it for this year's August festivities! Did you enjoy the fireworks last night?

User

A fascinating read on the history of a language, and how this popular TV series is helping to revive it! Want to know more? Join us on our Outlander and Jacobite Tour, every Friday and Saturday at 11 am.

User

Help us find out which ghosts haunt our famous underground. Join mingin' Annie from Edinburgh's past and discover what it was like to have lived underground for 400 years! Full of disgusting stories and anecdotes that will make you laugh and cringe, along with an interactive ghost hunt taking you around our underground vaults! This is for the brave and curious children that dare to descend... Grisly ghostly fun for all!

User

We were guided round the darker side of Edinburgh, we went on a family tour with Major Weir, fantastic time had by all, my Husband had his head stroked by a ghost!! So interesting and would recommend to everyone.

User

We went to the 8.45pm tour and we had really a good time. Our guide, David, was excellent, entertaining and funny, and we also learned few interesting facts about the history of Edinburgh, which made this city even more interesting. We started our tour in Parliament square, then moved to the Greyfriars Kirkyard and finally went to the underground vault. It is a great opportunity to have a nice walk through Edinburgh, learn something about the city and have fun ...actually the tour in the Greyfriars Kirkyard gave us some creeps as well. Great atmosphere and the ideal end of our weekend in Edinburgh!

User

We went on the tour today with Daniel and it was amazing!! Lots of history and little details that make this city seem even more appealing.

Daniel made us laugh and told serious details with a good joke to break the mood.

The visit to the vaults was spooky and again, Daniel gave plenty of detail and seriousness to the tour.

Loved it and recomend it, vividly

User

We went on a tour yesterday with Captain Porteous. He was engaging and fun. He told great stories. We had a fantastic time and would definitely do it again!

User

We joined the paranormal tour on Friday at 10.15 with Dr Knox. He was so enthusiastic, and completely captivating. We loved meeting Bloody Mckenzie and the trip to see Annie in the Vaults. Anybody wanting to learn more about Edinburgh should do this.

User

Very nice guide, good actress with a lot of knowledge. The whole tour was great

Thank you guys! Cheers from Greece

User

Really enjoyed the child friendly tour especially created for the Fringe. Minging Annie took us round her underground home and shared wonderful details about the history of Edinburgh. My children aged 9 & 12 loved it!

User

My 9 year old daughter and I went in the tour last night. Our host was major weir and despite the rain he did a great job. He was engaging and entertaining. A few scary moments that added to the excitement!

User

Loved it... Maggie Dickson was Fabulous.... xoxo

User

James is a great story teller and very engaging. Not only was I scared, I learned A LOT as well. The tour highlights in the graveyard and underground were creepy and beautiful as desired. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I also enjoyed the pub recommendation at the end as well. ;) Thanks for a great evening!

User

I did the Ghost Tour with David and Caytlinn (I hope I did not slaughter the spelling too much), it was great, both are great storytellers and I got the chills more than once, the underground part really gave me goosebumps. I can only imagine how much better it might be in fall/winter when it's already dark, even better with fog.

User

Great repertoire of spooky stories with the best choice of ghost spots of Edinburgh. Very happy.

User

Great experience. Met great people on the tour including our tour guides. I recommend the paranormal tour with Meir and the pub crawl with Lee. Wish we would've done them sooner.

User

Good tour, Mary was a fab story teller, lasted about an hour which was probably long enough

User

Fantastic, informative tour. Our guide was Robert. He was brilliant, told gruesome stories and you got to go into Greyfriars graveyard as well as a part of the vaults I've not seen before. Definitely recommend this tour but if you're a bit squeamish you might want to choose an earlier one!!

User

Brilliant tour......fabulous guide (MD.) this tour is a must when you are in Edinburgh

User

We had a wonderful time. It was very educational and our guide had more degrees than a thermometer. I like how they were in costume for the time period they were escorting us through. He did walk a little fast, but other than that I would highly recommend THIS ghost tour over any of the other ones.

User

We booked with the friendly fella in the top hat at the phone booth kiosk for the 1.5 hour early evening ghost and underground tour, major weir took us round a small group and we all could follow easily and enjoyed the majors running commentary of the history and very interesting facts about the city. Overall we left happy and learned a lot as well as a laugh along the way, next time would like a tour with more underground experiences. Saw the major and top hat man in the pub opposite afterwards and made welcome, cheers guys for an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

User

Really disappointed with this tour and tour guide especially. Went with 7 friends on Saturday evening to the Real Fear Tour. Far too many people in the group so often you couldn't hear what the tour guide was saying. Your guide even commented that it was an abnormally large group. Within minutes of the tour starting he told us that if we kept interrupting him he'd ask us to leave when all we had done was tell him that there were a couple of people tagging along who hadn't even bothered to pay. This happened throughout the tour - random people just joining the group which is pretty annoying considering everyone else had to pay. The group was so big the tour guide had no way of keeping track of who was meant to be there and who wasn't. He then gave us another telling off whilst in the graveyard because a few people let out screams because they were spooked. When the tour finished we came back to the police box to complain about his attitude and found it to be all locked up with no one there. This probably would have been a good tour if the guide had not been so rude. We will definitely be complaining through your website and in future will not be recommending your tours to others.
