Absolutely fantastic experience! Tour was led by Gerry with a 'G' who was informative, funny and compelling! He was knowledgable and passionate about his subject and we were totally rapt from the start. We saw bits of the city we would never have got to see and felt like we had an insight into Edinburgh's history that we would not have otherwise have had. If you want jump scares then it's not the tour for you but if you want history with a supernatural flavour then book yourself a tour! By far the highlight of our trip!

My interests when visiting places and cities: history, macabre history, lost history, and being in the modern spot where history happened. For instance, while in Edinburgh, I made up my own self guided Porteous Riot tour.
With those interests in mind, City Of The Dead tours delivered. Our guide, Jerry Withagee, was knowledgeable and entertaining. I had a minute before the tour started to chat with Jerry Withagee about haunted places and I asked how it compared to The Winchester House, a slightly obscure location in California that most Americans don't know about. He didn't even flinch and went right into comparing the style and number of hauntings. Jerry Withagee's style and mannerisms were engaging, entertaining, and knowledgeable. There aren't really too many cheap thrills - no cheap plastic ghosts on fishing line, no tour guides in witches' cloaks & make-up. Just facts that are hard to come by (Jerry Withagee can explain why).
The Double Dead tour is about the same length of time as each tour individually so maybe you'd get more out of each separate tour or maybe the fast pace of the Double Dead won't give you a chance to get bored.
We did the late night Double Dead tour. I'm torn between recommending you avoid the Friday night tours or choose them above all else; Edinburgh has a very active bar/club scene and the sloshed patrons can be extra entertainment or a total distraction. Certainly nothing the tour company can control or avoid.

A brief visit to Edinburgh which happened to also be the start of The Fringe. This tour runs all year round and was something not to be missed. Jerry with G was our guide and he was amazing. His production was very informative and entertaining! We had the dress rehearsal of the military tattoo and he kept composed! I would recommend to all visiting! Very good and a must see.

Just went on the underground tour. I've been on quite a few ghost tours and this one was definitely one of the best. It was really interesting too. During the tour (before we were told anything) I started to feel very sick and felt faint. Keep in mind I've been on many other tours and never felt sick or worried. This tour was different. I honestly wanted to get out of the chambers as fast as I could. I felt like something was pressing its hand to my ear pulling my jacket. I was shaking so much by the end. It was so good but I was so scared by the end I don't know if I will do it again. However, I would highly recommend it. Such a good tour!

Interesting tour that showed a different side of Edinburgh with access to some unique locations. Our tour guide, Gerry, was informative and entertaining. More historical than scary. We had an issue with our booking and they were very helpful, quick to respond and fixed it straight away.

Very fun tour with a lot of interesting history and funny stories. Gerry was our guide and he was awesome!

Had a great time creeping through the underground city before moving on to the graveyard. The guide we had was a self-confessed storyteller and not a historian so he made it a thoroughly enjoyable tour. It was perfect for what we were looking for.

Took the Haunted Graveyard tour with Gerry and loved it! Very lively and entertaining guide with a lot of personality. Gave two people who are not easily spooked the chills! Quirky, fun, and highly recommended

This tour was absolutely superb! The ticket price was really good, especially being at student discounted price (£9!). I wasn't really sure what to expect on this tour but honestly one of the best experiences I had in Edinburgh! David was our tour guide and he really made the tour -he had amazing enthusiasm. There was a good balance between spooky stories and the history of Edinburgh. It was an amazing way to end mine and my boyfriends trip to the city!
