As an Upholsterer I always get a great feeling of fulfilment when a piece of furniture is completely revamped or restored and given a new lease of life. Some are changed beyond recognition while others appear to be unaltered, just secretly restored to last another few decades.

The thrill of taking a chair back to the frame to re-web, re-spring and build right back up to a glorious picture of health and comfort provides a feeling of pride. While it is time consuming and costly it is also well worth the finished result.

I keep buying old and tired chairs, the frames can be rickety or the padding and springs a hanging out, but thats the challenge. I have created this page to sell my restored chairs and the old items I buy to do up…. so I can buy some more and do it all over again. I am also taking a more ‘upcycling’ angle as well and having a bit of fun in the design of the restoration.

I will put on before and after photos and hope that someone loves the finished pieces enough to want to buy them for their homes.

I will also be making smaller items using the large stock of offcuts that I can’t bear to throw away and the supply of sundry items that I have to hand in the workshop.

At Christmas time I made Christmas trees from branches which happily sold out and created further orders. And at the moment I am in the middle of my ‘Highland Cow’ range of cushions and Jute shoppers using a collection of tweeds and tartans, and a selection of circular fabric clocks embellished with buttons.

Vintage suitcases…. Scrabble letters…… wine corks……. frames……. . there are constant ideas churning around so watch this space.
