I wouldn't normally post about my holidays, but I was impressed today at Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum as they have used some of their space to create a sensory garden for people with autism to enjoy, in association with the National Autistic Society. This garden was the highlight of some beautiful grounds surrounding the ancestral home of *the* Earl Grey - I'd be impressed, but as any of you who has been to see me will know, I prefer coffee 😜 ☕️☕️☕️ Can highly recommend visiting Howick for its lovely walks and having a cheeky coffee under the portrait of Earl Grey 😉

Just wanted to put out a wee mention about the café downstairs; they do great coffee and food, but what really sets them apart is providing work experience for people who, due to learning difficulties, may otherwise struggle to break into the workplace. A couple of their trainees have been able to use the café as a stepping stone to gainful employment, making it a most worthwhile venture. The service always comes with a smile too, I can't recommend them enough. Thank you all! ☕️🍰👍🏻

I'm at a really useful course this morning about a variety of paediatric topics, and absolutely delighted to bump into my pal Stella, whom I've known since day one of med school. She remembers me when I was skinny and immature, and assures me that, in her opinion, I'm still both. Anyway, topics covered so far include acid reflux, constipation ( tip of the day: ice lollies laced with movicol paediatric! 👍🏻) and cow's milk allergy. Slide of the day: for any parents buying non-...cow milk; if the animal has an even number of toes, its milk will be 95% similar to cow's milk and still cause a reaction, whereas odd-toed mammals' milk should be fine - if only Wholefoods Giffnock hadn't shut down, that's where I used to get my rhino milk! P.S if you or your child carries an EpiPen, did you know you can go to the EpiPen website, register your device and receive a text reminder when it's due replacement? 👍🏻🤓 P.P.S. Apparently Karen used the even-toed ungulates slide to educate her pharmacy students yesterdayme; I'm certainly relived that the future generation of pharmacists are going to know more about mammalian milks, look out for rhino milk on the shelf at Lloyds! #TeamAwesome

Dead proud of these two swots! In the past week, we’ve had the wonderful news that Evelyn, after months of hard work and keen learning, has attained her Postgraduate Certificate in Advancing Professional Practice. We’re really pleased for her and proud of her for doing so well x Karen also had a cheeky stint as a ‘mature’ student at Uni and has attained her Certificate in Independent Prescribing, meaning that as well as being able to answer all your questions about drugs, she... can prescribe them for you too! Well done, Karen x Better not encourage too much of this professional development, I’ll talk myself out of a job...

Welcome to Dr Maredia on her first day! We now have more GP sessions than ever before and are looking forward to a period of stability and continuity which has been lacking for a while. We must thank all those locums who have helped us over the past year, we couldn't have survived without you all. I'd also like to thank Dr Morrice for having been our solid foundation for the past year whilst his partners have been sadly sick, happily pregnant and frustratingly playing at managers. Here's to a new era! 🍾

Dear all, here's a second edition of the video I posted before. Have slowed it down a little and added a line about stating "it's personal" as a result of your helpful feedback. To answer points made by more than one of you, we can't at this time make the appointments for anyone other than the GPs available online. We may be able to work with this in the future, but for now it's GPs only. If you suspect your issue might not need a doctor, best to phone and our wonderful receptionists will be happy to advise you.

Dear all, looking for a bit of feedback please on my latest project. Having got fed up waiting for the Scottish Government to put some information out in the public sector about the changes occurring in all GP practices in Scotland, I thought I would create my own video so that at least our patients can understand what's going on.
