The Chain is the only track on Rumours credited to all five band members. It's core was an unused Christine McVie song "Keep Me There". At one point it was very nearly cut from the album. Then the bridge section featuring John McVie's famous 10 note bass pattern was added and the rest of the track was re-worked around that.
