Like most small businesses I had hoped to remain open through this crisis - but I feel that with the current situation the time has come to close the doors. So unfortunately our shop will not be opening routinely until further notice. I will continue to show items on Facebook posts, and our website (www.claymorecollectables.co.uk) will be updated with new pieces. I can be contacted at any time, and would be happy to arrange to meet at the shop to allow viewing/purchase. In the meantime I just want to send genuine best wishes to all my friends and customers, and hope that we all stay safe through these very difficult times. Max

Claymore Collectables will keep trading whenever possible during this pandemic. As a small business we need to. The shop will remain open when practical, and lots of our items will be displayed on our Facebook page and website (www.claymorecollectables.co.uk) Please feel free to message me at any time. And as a small business we will do everything possible to accommodate our loyal customers - payment can be made by leaving a small rucksack full of money (banknotes of mixed denominations, non-consecutive serial numbers) in the bin outside my shop. Item will then be left in a Toys-R-Us bag in the forest outside Powmill. Co-ordinates will be sent by text once cash has been counted.

Today’s featured item is something very special - this pair of vintage goggles. Made in 1962 by the British Oxygen Company they’re now a highly desirable Steampunk piece. But the story behind these goggles is almost unbelievable. In 1962 they were issued to Walter Wells, an employee of BOC at their international headquarters in Auchtermuchty. ‘Wattie the Welder’ wore his goggles each day as he skillfully welded hinges onto Rupert the Bear picnic tins. But in 1965 Wattie le...ft BOC to pursue his real passion - freshwater pearl diving. Wattie set up his famous ‘World Pearl Diving Centre’ in Milnathort, near to the pearl-rich waters of Loch Leven. Wattie knew that his treasured goggles could be used under water, and it was in this environment that they truly excelled. Wattie discovered that the deep blue lenses gave him extraordinary visibility in the murky depths of the loch, allowing him to quickly locate those precious pearls. Within months Wattie had made his fortune, and soon retired to an Alpine ski lodge in Skegness. He sold his flippers and snorkel , but could not bear to part with his goggles Recently Wattie’s family decided to sell his beloved goggles at auction, to raise funds for his great-grandson’s kayaking holiday in Glenrothes. So now these truly amazing eye-protectors can be yours - for only £25!

Today’s featured item is this very rare Bo’ness pottery cat. Dating from the 1860’s, this piece was originally owned by Claude McPutter, a wealthy entrepreneur who had made his fortune in the Far East selling tartan socks to Asian farmers. The cat spent many years in McPutter’s cellar, scaring off the mice from his huge collection of exotic Hungarian cheeses. Unfortunately during the famous world cheese shortage of 1879, McPutter’s cellar was raided by a gang of ruthless th...ieves, who not only stole his entire cheese collection, but also took his treasured pottery cat. The cat’s whereabouts then remained a mystery for 140 years, until it was recently discovered in a massage parlour in Pittenweem, where it had been accepted as payment against a particularly enjoyable ‘neck rub’. And now this rare treasure can be in your home for only £30.

Today’s featured piece is this rare vintage Raleigh ladies bicycle. The bike dates from the late 1940’s and was used as daily transport by the famous post-war belly dancer Betty Belcher. Betty travelled the country on her bicycle, carrying her slinky sequinned costumes in a rucksack, and appearing at packed venues far and wide. Betty passed away in 1965, in an unfortunate water-bed accident, and the world famous ‘Betty Belcher Belly Bike’ was sold at auction to an anonymous Russian marzipan tycoon. But now it’s available to the public once more - and for only £90 you could own this piece of British history
