Cluaran - Historical Interpretation Project

About Cluaran - Historical Interpretation Project

We look after a 6m viking fishing boat!
We take it round schools and to community events.
We use it to help people understand history, Hands on.

Cluaran - Historical Interpretation Project Description

We started out planning to build a boat to meet the Harald Finehair for the Largs 2013 festival.

We didn't build a boat, and they didn't come - but now we have a boat and use it to help hundreds of people get a hands on idea of boat building and the shared cultural heritage between Scotland and Norway.

Working with Wordsmithcrafts, The Vikings, and others we maintain and make a Ness Yole available for use in Historical Interpretation activities, on and off the water.

We can present artistic installations with interactive crafts, covering the 8th to 14th centuries.
