There will be no spanish on Thursday 1st of November for playroom children. Spanish will be on as normal the following week.

If your child starts school in August 2019 then please be sure to get them enrolled. The enrolement process starts on the 5th November 2018.

Parents Notice!! As you are already aware when your child turns 3 they start to follow the Curriculum For Excellence. The C.F.E is intended to help children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life including skills for learning, life and work. Your child will follow this framework on from nursery to school. Just now we are working on the importance of the 4 Capacities of the C.F.E -
.Successful Learners .Effective Contributors ... .Responsible Citizens .Confident Individuals
We will be using these terminologies to the children to familiarise them with the sayings. The children will recieve certificates when they achieve one of the above. We are making this a Home Link to allow parents/carers to reward your child with a certificate when you feel they have achieved any of the Capacities at home. The certificates will be on the display outside the playroom door so please help yourself but be sure to tell a member of staff if your child has recieved one at home so we can track and give praise when needed. We are working on a display that is friendly for both parents and children so please keep an eye out for this.

10 years ago today Coconut Corner opened Our history was that we had a voluntary playgroup 2 mornings per week in Hope Hall church for 27 years Parents asked if we could have it every day as they didn’t want to take the children away from us. We are grateful to Hope Hall Trustees who continue to support us especially by not charging a commercial rent.

We are being Responsible Citizens! This afternoon the OOSC children wanted to help clean the guinea pigs cage. Before hand we spoke about what we would need to wear to protect our clothes and the children chose to wear an apron and gloves. The children were supervised at all times and help was given to them when needed although they were very independent. By doing this the children are learning good life skills and teaches them to be kind, thoughtful and helpful. They did an amazing job!

We are being effective contributors! We are helping out with our local food bank by taking in donations and dropping them off.

As you all know we are building positive relationships in our community. One of our links is visiting the Care Home on a Tuesday. The children thoroughly enjoy this and enjoy sharing their experiences. Here are some of the fun things they do with the residents.

This morning the children enjoyed their forest session. They have been learning all about Autumn and have started to recognise everything that links with Autumn. They decided they wanted to go a nature walk to collect some leaves, sticks, berries and conkers. They are going to make a lovely Autumn collage!

Nicky started in Coconut Corner the day we opened in 2008 He had been in Hope Hall church playgroup the forerunner (27 years ) of Coconut Corner as it is now Well done Nicky you are famous !

Our ‘alternative to Hallowe’en’ parties will be on Wednesday 31st October.
Babies - 10.30am to 11.30am
... Playroom children - 1.30pm to 2.30pm
If your child is not normally in Coconut Corner at these times, you are welcome to bring them for the party and collect them at the end of the party (with no fee charge that day)
After School Care children - 4pm to 5pm
If your child is not normally in on that day and they want to come to the party, please let us know and we will pick them up from their school (with no fee charge that day)
In keeping with our christian ethos, we would kindly ask that children dress in fun costumes rather than witches, ghosts, skeletons, etc

Ryan has attended here since 1 year old and hes now nearly 11. Hes been to all rooms and now attends aftercare xx hes grew up with coconut corner and i would have been stuck without their services locally over the years to be able to work xx

Fantastic nursery. Staff are amazing. My daughter could not be happier and had come on leaps and bounds in the past year.

Fab nursery! All the staff are very friendly and welcoming! Amelia just loves going every week! She definitely has come on so well since she started just over a year ago and Amelia is learning all the time with the activities and play (including all the messy stuff �) keep up the good work �

He started in the baby room and is now in the playroom he comes home filled with joy and excitement to share his day with his mummy and daddy !A massive thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of him.
