We are creating not one but two looks - one for the wedding ceremony dress and one for the traditional Nigerian Yoruba wedding outfit for the evening reception.

Make-Up Lesson for a Natural Look ----------------------------------------- ------- Dawn was wanting to learn more about creating a natural, fresh look that would best suit her dark complexion, whilst emphasising her eyes.
Dawn brought along some inspiration images and we decided to go with a soft plum smokey eye with medium beige pink lips. The look was completed with a natural, fresh finish to the skin, with a soft pink blush.

Group Makeup Masterclass ------------------------------------ Had a makeup masterclass with a group of 45 ladies visiting Edinburgh all the way from sunny Saudi.
They were interested in learning how to create the classic soft smokey eye, as well as learning more about how to achieve that chiselled look with contouring. So, we went for a burnt orange & brown smokey eye with a fresh, dewy glow to the skin, along with some contouring to emphasise our model's features.

Make-Up Lesson on How to Emphasise the Eyes ----------------------------------------- ------------------------- At one of my make-up lessons, the lovely Barbara, wanted to create a special occasion look.
Barbara was looking for tips on how to emphasise her eyes more and achieve a natural glow to her skin. So, we went for a soft smokey coral and brown eye to emphasise Barbara’s beautiful blue eyes, and for the skin, we went with a dewy base and a soft peachy blush. All finished... off with a coral lip.
Well done to Barbara who did a fantastic job in achieving her lesson goals!

Recently I've had the absolute pleasure of Colette doing my make up for a friend's wedding. I now know why Colette's business is called make up artistry. She really is a true artist, a magician even! She puts you instantly at ease, is a great laugh and just works effortlesly. She very carefully listened to my ideas and wishes, checked my outfit to make sure the make up compliments it, and in a very short time absolutely transformed my tired 7-months pregnant skin into a glowing and younger looking version of myself. I didn't think anyone can do that!



I was amazed by the transformation! The whole experience was like having tea and cake with your best friend. The products she uses are top quality, have caused my sensitive skin absolutely no problems and actually made my skin look great even the second day, and lasted the entire night without needing to be touched up. It was so lovely to receive genuine compliments from other wedding guests, which made the evening even more special.

I have worked with Colette several times now - both for professional photoshoots for my businesses and for special occasion make up for myself and have been delighted with all her services. Colette is extremely professional - really knows her stuff and will make sure you are absolutely happy with what she does, as well as just being a lovely person. A perfectionist in the best sense of the term. Am very happy to highly recommend her for both professional and personal use - I'll certainly use her again for both.

I had only had my make-up done professionally on one occasion before and it turned out a disaster so choosing a make-up artist to do my make-up on our wedding day was a really big decision for me. I am so pleased I came across Colette's make-up artist services at a wedding fayre. The other companies I had looked at only seemed to do one 'style' of make-up which was far too over the top for me. After looking at Colette's portfolio it was really clear that she tailored the looks to what her brides/clients wanted.





After emailing Colette back and forward with various questions (which she answered in a timely and friendly manner), I booked us in to get our make-up done on the wedding day and also for the pre-wedding make-up trial. She had a lot on her hands with me, two bridesmaids, my mum and future mother-in-law, but we were all delighted with the looks achieved at the trial. Colette is a true professional at what she does and is so friendly. She even gave us hints and tips during our trial and also advised us what products we might want to purchase for use on the big day. We felt Colette really understood the natural look we wanted on the wedding day, and took the time to find out about our skin types, usual make-up looks and likes/dislikes.



On the wedding day Colette arrived in plenty of time and got set up in the corner of the room. We were all made-up perfectly, incorporating the couple of tweaks we wanted to make after the trial, and had a quick check-over/touch-up before we headed downstairs for the ceremony. We looked amazing (even if i do say so myself!).



My skin can be quite oily and I tend to find make-up slides off my face with the tiniest bit of sweat. Thankfully the make-up Colette uses is fantastic - it doesn't feel cakey or heavy but lasted all day and all night (even in the summer heat after a lot of dancing!). None of us had any make-up runs or smudges - everything lasted perfectly, as if we'd just had it done. One of my bridesmaids didn't take her make-up off before bed and woke up the next day with her face still looking perfect!



I am so pleased I came across Colette at the wedding fayre. She is a true artist and professional and knows what she's doing. She was personable and friendly and put us at ease, even sharing her snacks and helping calm my nerves on the wedding morning. My bridesmaids and I actually feel quite sad that we won't be seeing Colette again soon, although we've all got her details to hand for the next special occasion! I booked Colette for my wedding on 29th December at the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club after meeting her at Edinburgh Corn Exchange Wedding Fair back in November 2015. I had been following her on Facebook for a few months and was really impressed with other brides and bridal party pictures. Straight away she made me feel relaxed. Colette is warm and welcoming and certainly knows her stuff when it comes to makeup. We had our trials in September, 3 months before the wedding were Colette really took time to get to know us & find out what we liked/didn't like. Collette came to my hotel room last Saturday to do myself and sister in laws makeup for my sons wedding. She was absolutely brilliant, really friendly and put me at ease straight away.

The finished result was amazing, I asked for natural as I don't usually wear any makeup.

I had so many compliments on the day and more than many of the other guests kept questioning that I was the grooms mum as I looked so young. (All down to the makeup I add)

Colette was the make-up artist on one of my recent photo shoots. Having done a few shoots in the past, I found it really easy to get on with Colette from the start. She has a great ability to put you at ease and is both extremely professional but personable at the same time. I also noticed that she was really flexible in working to the timings of the photographer, not easily flustered she slotted in required changes and alterations to my make up quickly whilst paying close attention to detail. She really knows her stuff when it comes to knowing what make up works well for the camera, and different types of environments (outdoor and indoor) and I guess this comes from her evident passion for all things make up!

Colette was amazing at helping keep everything calm on my Sister's wedding day. The pre-wedding trial ironed out all the kinks and helped us make up our indecisive minds. Colette had seamlessly organised a photo-shoot, where i for @frejaDesignerDressmaking was bringing dresses and accessories. the day ran so smooth, all was taken care of. Colette's work as a make up artist was flawless. The make up was really beautiful and natural, and on trend, it stayed perfect even with the hot strong lamps the photographers had brought.

Soon after, i had the great fortune of being guest at a wedding where the whole bridal party had been made up by Colette, the make up was so lovely and individually suited to each person, and stayed on all night through tears of joy and much dancing.

Colette did my make up for a family wedding. We used the trial to work out what colours I suited and also what went with my outfit. Being someone who doesn't wear a lot of make up, used to doing it my own way, and having had professional make up done in the past, I was quite wary of how heavy the make up might feel. Colette really listened to what I liked and didn't like and made really constructive suggestions along the way. Her passion, knowledge and experience really shows and she knows what works. This put me at ease from the start and I totally trusted her to do her thing and confident that she was going to produce great results.
