While the workshop is closed, we unfortunately won’t have any new work to share with you so we thought over the next few weeks we’d revisit some previous commissions, starting with this beautiful diamond eternity ring which was made with the diamonds of a cherished but unworn inherited cluster ring. We supplied some additional diamonds, matched for colour & clarity, to complete the new ring which was made in platinum & now worn & enjoyed daily.

Paul (& Mollie the dog) taking a break from gardening this morning with coffee from Inverness Coffee Roasting Co delivered by Peteroo (!) from the Milk Bar. If you're craving decent coffee, Peter is delivering on his bike! Paul's productivity in the workshop increases after a brew, we'll bet Erica, Paul's wife, is hoping for the same in the garden! We are now closed until further notice.
Like all businesses, we've faced challenges before. When Colin (my dad) had a workshop in Buchanan Street in Glasgow, a three day week was introduced following the 1973 oil crisis as a solution to the dwindling electricity supply (following industrial action by the coal miners). His two jewellers, receptionist / book keeper and engraver obviously couldn't work without lights and machinery so my grandfather, owner of the first 24 hour g...arage in Glasgow, D&N, supplied men and banks of batteries and car headlights twice daily up three flights of stairs to keep them working! Old gas lamps from tenement buildings were also plumbed in and work was collected and hand delivered around Glasgow.
For now, all we can do is sit tight and follow the advice to stay at home however we would like to reassure all our customers that any jewellery left in our care is secure and fully insured in our safe. We can still be contacted by email (info@colincampbellgoldsmith.co.uk) and on fb messenger.

In these testing and unprecedented times, we will continue to serve our customers ensuring high levels ...of hygiene and care are upheld. This will include disinfecting any equipment used after every use, along with the frequent scheduled cleaning of all surfaces and high traffic areas.
We will continue to use Royal Mail to post out orders and will offer this as an option to any customers who would prefer their alterations / orders posted on to them on completion instead of collecting in person.
Should there be any requirement to alter our normal operating hours (Tuesday-Saturday 9-5) we will update this information on our website, Google and Facebook.

A simple before & after! This lovely lady put her rings into a home jewellery cleaning solution then forgot all about them for a few days...they came out dull & tarnished looking and no amount of rinsing/polishing them with a cloth could make them shine. Getting to grips with our new microscope in the workshop today. Fantastic resolution showing the edge of this GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) certificated diamond, the number shown (magnified x50!) is laser engraved onto the girdle of the diamond and is the GIA report number which gives the full diamond details including carat. colour, clarity.

For those of you who read yesterday’s fb post, here’s the refurbished ring, a treasured memento of her gran, worn on her wedding day.

Paul is a magician. I took two rings into the shop with the intention of scrapping them or using them both to make a recommissioned piece. Paul refurbished the rings, reshaping, polishing & replacing a pearl in one of the rings. The results were amazing & the rings will be passed on to my daughters - MikePaul is a magician.
