ColourWorks to be Demolished
Nearly 4 months after the fire on Wednesday 13th February 2019, the Units are due to be demolished. The demolition is being carried out by Kinetic, commencing Monday 10th June for around 2 weeks. The cost for which is to be borne by ourselves.
Not a day goes by where I don't remember something, no matter how trivial, lost as a result of someone's gross stupidity. Particularly annoying at the moment, with the onset of St Ronan's Games week in July,... is the inability to provide family and friends with decorations, as in the past.
This frustration, is matched by an ongoing war of attrition with the Insurance Companies. Nevertheless, I feel for Michael, Paul, Gary and Mark who lost everything and have no contents insurance to fall back on.
However, the forensic fire report and CCTV pictures, categorically show that the source of ignition for the fire was as result of a person burning his trade waste, six feet away from the rear corner of the building.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that it was not our fault that everything has been destroyed, all our insurance premiums (business and personal) have gone up as a result. The best being a £1,000 increase for my business insurance, my business premises now consisting of a 20' container with some pallet racking.
Enough negativity for now, I thought I would just let people know what was happening with the buildings, in response to a few enquires.
Finally, thanks for all the sympathy and support we have received and the kind words regarding the standard of our work. We shall see what the future will bring, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you and Good Night
Went into the Unit as I was determined to salvage something. Had a lump in my throat as I briefly looked round and surveyed the damage.
Thanks for all the messages of support, much appreciated. All the best.
Time will Tell
Unfortunately as a result of the fire yesterday (Wed 13th Feb 19) nearly 6 years of hard work at Unit A has gone up in smoke. However, at least no one was injured.
The fire which is believed to have started outside the building has reduced the building to a pathetic shell that once contained a number of thriving businesses.
... Thanks to everyone who has rallied round, it's a testament to the great spirit of camaraderie and cooperation that exists within the small business community in Station Yard and nearby.
Our thanks also goes out to the Innerleithen Fire Crew who were first on the scene and tried to save the Unit. Worryingly for anyone lives in the area, they were hampered for nearly an hour by poor mains pressure. This is somewhat ironic, considering the 5 year nightmare I've had with Business Stream and Scottish Water regarding my supply.
Nothing in the Unit is salvageable, it's just a twisted heap of burnt metal. CNC Machines, Shot Blasting Cabinet, Powder Coating equipment, tools etc., all gone.
I have been given an order by SBC that the building must be demolished.
Our fate now lies in the hands of the insurers to see whether ColourWorks can rise phoenix like from the ashes.
Thanks to everyone for their support and our thoughts go out to everyone else who's business' have also been devastated.

Painting Lines on a Running Track at Dunbar
Video of "Big Bertha" in action. Small petrol powered air compressor is utilised to spray the lines.
There are various examples of this type of machine.
... However "Bertha" was refined, manufactured and constructed by ourselves utilising the HAAS CNC to make many of the fixtures.
Anderson & Wilson in Galashiels Tig Weklded the chassis, While, Morrison & Murray also based in Galashiels helped with some of the lathe work.
The machine was christened "Big Bertha" due to it's weight as a result of having a pressure pot capable of containing 20 litres of paint !
