Compass Playgroup offers a safe, happy and enriching environment where young children can gain the immeasurable benefits of learning through play.

We are located in the Dean Park Primary Pre-School Centre, in the heart of Balerno. Our premises provide an excellent venue for our children, aged 2-5 years, to participate in a wide variety of activities based around the Scottish Executive Curriculum Framework.

We operate Mondays to Fridays (school term time only) 9: 00am-11. 45am and have capacity for 18 children each session. We also operate a Lunch Club and Transfer Service to Dean Park Nursery daily.

Compass Playgroup is a registered charity and is run by an elected committee, comprised of parents and guardians of children attending the playgroup. We are members of the Scottish Pre-School Play Association and are regulated by the Scottish Commission for the Registration of Care. During a recent inspection by the Care Commission, we were graded 'Excellent' for the quality of care and support and 'Very Good' for the quality of environment provided at the Playgroup (Inspection Report, September 2010).

In 2014, our wonderful playroom has been painted and revamped (see Facilities for some photographs). We were delighted to be able to spend some of our hard earned fundraising money on a brand new wooden kitchen set to provide a lovely home corner for the children. We have also bought new water and sand trays. The new room has been an instant hit with our children and parents alike!
