Do carers know about their rights under the new Carers ( Scotland) Act?
Coalition of Carers in Scotland are currently running a short online survey to find out whether carers feel informed about the new Carers Act. They are hoping to use the findings from the survey to help inform future local and national strategies around raising awareness of the Carers Act. The survey takes no more than 3 minutes to complete and is open to all carers in Scotland. They have had a fantastic ...response so far and have heard from nearly 700 carers since the survey went live 2 weeks ago!
However, they would really like to try and reach and hear from at least 1000 carers from across Scotland before the end of November, and would really appreciate your help in sharing the online survey with your local carer networks: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XZNZ8MR< br> If you are on twitter, please feel free to retweet their post about the survey : https://twitter.com/CarersCoalit…/statu s/1060163180373123072
Or share their post about the survey on your facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/CoalitionofCarer s/posts/2186524191561822
They are particularly keen to hear from Young Carers and from carers living in remote and rural areas as they have not had much response from these groups of carers.
They hope to be able to share their initial findings from the survey on social media in time for Carers Rights Day on 30th November – so do look out for their tweets on the day. Coalition of Carers in Scotland will be using #KnowYourRights.

I've been a carer over ten years, and have always known I could have an assessment and carer support plan but never really saw the point. I didn't think there was anything that could actually be changed given our circumstances. However I was wrong. Lyndsay visited, she does a great job, and I would certainly recommend a visit. Even having someone recognise what you do as a carer makes a surprising difference, and helps you recognise your own needs as important too. So thankyou Connecting Carers you provide an excellant service!
