PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE CONSULATE OF PAKISTAN, GLASGOW
A windy but largely sunny weather welcomed a large gathering of Pakistani community in Scotland from the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Motherwell, Hamilton & Stirling, who joined the Consul General of Pakistan, Muhammad Rumman Ahmad and his colleagues at the Consulate of Pakistan in Glasgow to mark and celebrate the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. British and Scottish friends of Pakistan... and representatives from local media were also present on this occasion.
The ceremony started with Consul Ahmad hoisting the National Flag while the National Anthem played in the background. Later, messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.
In his address to the gathering, Consul Ahmad reiterated that when it came to Pakistan & it’s defence, our Government, our Armed Forces, our Media and our People were all ONE - united and resilient, and that no one should doubt that. At the same time, he added, our friends within the international community needed to open their eyes to the Fascist Regime in India that used violence against its minorities as State Policy.
On the terrorist attack in Christchurch , Mr. Ahmad observed that such attacks should not shock us as long as we discriminated between acts of terror on the basis of faith, race and ethnicity. Our Linguistic Terror breeds that Real Terror, he argued. This was why, he emphasised, majorities on all sides needed to band together to fight bigotry and discrimination in all its forms and shapes.
He called on the participants to fight bigotry and discrimination together in both worlds – the Real and the Digital; to be agents of tolerance, sanity and peace; to reach across divides of faith, race, colour and ethnicity to form a united front against the forces of violence and bigotry; finally, to behave and act like majorities in any society in any community are - Moderate, Tolerant, Progressive and Positive.
A special Dua was also held for the victims of the Christchurch on this occasion.
Finally, the Mr. Ahmad joined young children dressed in traditional green colour and cut a cake marking the 79th Anniversary of the Pakistan Resolution to glorious slogans of Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Payindabad.
Afterwards, the guests were treated to a traditional Pakistani brunch.

PAKISTAN STRIKES BACK
(2019-02-27) Today, Pakistan Air Force undertook strikes across Line of Control from within Pakistani airspace. This was not a retaliation to continued Indian belligerence. Pakistan has therefore, taken strikes at non military target, avoiding human loss and collateral damage. Sole purpose being to demonstrate our right, will and capability for self defence. We have no intention of escalation, but are fully prepared to do so if forced into that paradigm.... That is why we undertook the action with clear warning and in broad daylight. For the last few years, India has been trying to establish what they call "a new normal" a thinly veiled term for doing acts of aggression at whatever pretext they wish on a given day. If India is striking at so called terrorist backers without a shred of evidence, we also retain reciprocal rights to retaliate against elements that enjoy Indian patronage while carrying out acts of terror in Pakistan. We do not wish to go to that route and wish that India gives peace a chance and to resolve issues like a mature democratic nation.
