About Coylton Parish Church

The historic parish church in the village of Coylton, Ayrshire, part of the Presbytery of Ayr in the Church of Scotland.

Coylton Parish Church Description

The current Parish Church in Coylton, serving both the village and the surrounding rural area, is an impressive building in the Gothic style, built around 1832 to replace the original auld kirk in Low Coylton, itself possibly of medieval origins. The main building is cruciform, with the pulpit at the centre, and is crowned by a belfry featuring the original 19th century brass bell, rung every Sunday as a call to worship as well as on Christmas Day and Hogmanay. The Church is situated prominently in the Hillhead area to the eastern end of the village and can be clearly seen on almost any approach to Coylton.

Coylton Parish Church has a friendly and open yet close-knit congregation that is strongly community-focused and therefore plays an important community role in the village and parish of Coylton. Visitors are most welcome!
