Craic’n’yarn is a shop and studio stocking a range of locally sourced Scottish yarns and producing original designs for hand knitters

Craic’n’yarn may not be the biggest shop in the world but we think we’re perfectly formed. You won’t find acrylic and manmade fibre in the yarns in any great quantity – except when it’s blended with beautiful wool to give it strength, as in sock yarn, or washability, as in baby yarn.

What we do have is the Scottish story – sheep born and raised in nearby Perthshire, wool spun in Britain and carefully hand dyed back on Culdees farm, by my friend Linda.

New Lanark also have a tale to tell with their pure wool and wool and silk blends spun on traditional machinery built and maintained by their wonderful team all dedicated to preserving the heritage and history of Scottish spinning. Look out for their organic wool – all British, knits like a dream and when finished is as soft as a cloud.

JC Rennie also makes an appearance with their heritage yarns. Commercial yarns include Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino and Opal sock yarn. I also have my bargain buckets where you can pick up a bargain whether it’s yarn or kits.
