Its a very busy day on the Bora stand at Euro Cucina Milan.

Its now almost eight years since we came up with this our mark 1 "grand modern" punched out wall concept and I think it still looks as sharp and exciting today as it did back then. Inspired by Richard Meier's Luxemburg residence its at home in a Georgian drawing room as it is in a new build or Grange extension.

Metal in kitchens - I think we are going to see an increasing use of metal in kitchens in 2018 and beyond as feature doors, metal and glass door cabinets as well as ever more interesting handles and shelving details. Copper has been featuring in kitchens with us for a few years now but I don’t think it’s finished. Brass and satin brass are becoming increasingly more popular but black painted metal is the finish that’s going to be the strongest. Here Japanese interior designers “Simplicity” take the use of metal in the kitchen to a whole different level in Bohemia House, Hong Kong.

It’s not often that you stumble across a pub in Scotland with great food so let me tell you about a good one. “The Cobbles”” in Kelso not only does great food but has a tasty selection of borders beers. Genuine and friendly staff further improve the experience. I had an exceptionally tasty traditional steak and mushroom pie. Freshly baked to order it’s one the best pies you are ever likely to taste. Five stars for service, food and for being open on a Sunday after 2.00pm 😋

Spotted this in Dezeen this week, fabulous extension onto a period property to form a cafe/bakery, by Pedro Livni. It would make the most perfect courtyard house. Imagine the gorgeous kitchen you could put into that space, I am almost tempted to design it for fun.

I am not a big fish fan so can’t really comment other than say it looked good but on recent visits I have had both duck and chicken and they were excellent. The quality and presentation goes way above what you would expect to find in a pub and I would go as far to say far better than many Edinburgh restaurants. The sweets were certainly the highlight for me, pro master-chef level. The menus change so you won’t get bored but you might be disappointed they didn’t have the fab chocolate thing you had the last time 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

A very handy new tap design from Blanco. Available with the curved neck shown or with a square neck it's the perfect solution if you have a window or cabinets with doors to the rear of the tap.

As they say, here is one we prepared earlier. A delicious little pebble grey and onyx kitchen with oak flooring and wall panels finished off with lovely glacier white Corian topping. Pride of a lady owner and great cook I hear.

I spotted this picture in an interior design magazine, it really shows how much influence the floor can have on the final design.
