Liz of Litty's Larder has created this brilliant Quick Pickled Carrots recipe for us which you can serve alongside your cheeseboard over the festive period. It is so simple and such a delicious alternative for using up your carrots. They can also add a lovely crunch to a sandwich or salad and you could even make some up in jars to give out as festive presents this Christmas.
Head on over to the Craigie's website to see the full recipe here:https://buff.ly/2Qww6X8

The butchery products of the month are the The Buffalo Farm Scotch Beef pies and Buffalo Steak Pies! Perfect for Boxing Day and New Year and available cooked (ready to reheat in the oven) or frozen with uncooked pastry which you can either freeze and keep till Christmas or defrost and put straight into the oven!
Tender chunks of stewed Scotch Beef Steak with delicious gravy or slow cooked buffalo stew in rich gravy. They are so tasty!

In the cafe this month why not try a festive turkey, cranberry and brie panini? A taste of Christmas if you can’t wait until the 25th!

User

A lot of you have been asking what our Christmas opening hours will be so here they are! We're sure you agree our staff will deserve a rest over the festive period but they'll be back bright and breezy on the 27th December for a few days then will have another well earned rest for Hogmanay! Our first trading date for 2019 will be 3rd January when we'll be open at our usual time of 9am!

User

Today's TOP CHRISTMAS TIP is:
Start buying now, don't leave everything to the last minute! We're all guilty of that but if you've got freezer space or room in the cupboard for store room essentials then what are you waiting for. It will help to spread the cost too.

We visited this morning to get our pumpkin. Its always lovely going to craigies and our 5yr old LOVES the place! So we got our pumpkins, waaaay more apples than we need and fresh eggs. The shop staff were very jolly and 10/10 for the tractor driver - dropped us at the orchard and then chatted to our son about tractors and was really very nice! Gave us all the info on the various apples too. We had coffee in the shop and our son played in the playpark. I really do love Cragies - I always seem to spend far too much money there but there but its nice to support local enterprise. We will be back!

We visited last Saturday and had a fabulous day out. My 4 year old absolutely loved it, from the pumpkin picking, to the tractor ride and play park. There is so much to do and we where fortunate for a dry day. We also visited the cafe for some food and feel that there was a great selection, especially for the childrens boxes( my boy is a fussy eater and there was lots for him). It was very busy but we found a space easily and managed to get round without too much of a wait anywhere. We also took my moms dog with us, there where plenty of areas for him and he loved the tractor ride too . It's the best pumpkin patch experience we have been to so far and would definitely recommend it. It will be busy at this time of year, but if you plan appropriately then you will be fine. We will definitely be back. Also what beautiful views from the farms and there's a small selection of animals to visit. Great opportunity for photographs. Highly recommended.

We visited here this morning with our two year old and had a lovely time. The staff were so friendly and helpful-notably Lisa and Carol working on the tills. We had a great time playing in the play park, picking fruit, seeing all the animals and having a bite to eat! My daughter had a ball and is exhausted now currently napping! We will defo visit again xx

People who say it’s to expensive, get a grip.

These fruits and veg does not grow by themselves, everything cost a lot of money to be the way it all is- great choice of PYO, tidy, clean with a great secure kids play area, hand washing facilities etc!

I love the farm, been coming for few years now and I feel that everything is the way it should be.

User

First time visiting today and had a lovely experience. You did have to search for some of the fruit but it’s clear on website before you go. My 2 year old got stung by a wasp and the staff couldn’t be more helpful in calming both myself and my son down. Well done on great customer service

I have so far visited twice to Craigies very recently and I’ve really liked it. The staff are lovely and the cafe food is good but a little pricey. I have to be honest the barista coffee is not that great I had a hazelnut latte and it didn’t taste good. Loved taking our little girl around to see the animals and I will be coming back again but probably not as regularly as I’d like because of cafe prices.

User

Great idea.. very poorly organised. Appreciate that with Halloween around the corner the pumpkin picking was going to be very popular therefor a busy place to be. However with a bit of consideration and better organisation this would be a much more enjoyable experience.

The car park - would of been better with someone directing the traffic with it being so narrow to come in and out of the actual car park. You can’t see if anything’s coming for the hedges at entry/exit of each part.

Baskets/maps - your trying to enter a small cabin where people are trying to exit to grab a basket and for us these were still packaged up and we had to open to get our baskets. Someone handing these out as you enter the field would be an easy fix.

During our visit we made three separate purchases and twice charged incorrectly resulting in us being over charged. It was resolved there and then. Once you can understand.. but twice?

With a little bit of care and a tidy up around the site this would be an amazing place to visit and spend a few hours at. My daughter enjoyed her day, however with the above I’m sure I won’t be alone in saying we would maybe consider trying somewhere else for the pumpkins next year.

Only go here if you want VERY poor quality strawberries and HIGHLY rude and unprofessional management. I paid £9 for three people and left with not one item in either of our baskets! The strawberries were green they were so unripe. You really should not even attempt to pick fruits here after 11am when all the ‘best’ fruit is taken. When I explained my experience to the manager Roland (less useful than a chocolate tea pot) he was just not interested and actually quite aggressive with his approach. I then asked to take strawberries from the farm shop and even get less for my money to compensate for the staff picking time but I was welcomed with a no. I then asked to use it as credit in their farm shop. Again, welcomed with a NO! My only option was to go and play ‘hunt the strawberries down’ or purchase courgettes or sunflowers. Obviously not ideal as I came in for strawberries. A simple level of understanding from management and allowing me to spend my money elsewhere within the premises would have allowed me to possibly still leave fairly happy but this was not even on there agenda. All they want to do is line their own pockets and provide the most shocking customer service possible. I would suggest that you inform your customers who arrive after lunch that the quality of the produce may not be good enough to pick .

I took my son and 3 year old granddaughter to pick some raspberries yesterday for the 1st time. I was confused at the set up thinking we just want to pick a small amount as noted on the advert at the entrance how a tub of fruit would cost about £5. As you charge £3 for everyone this set me back £9 but I thought I would be refunded the difference. Alas no. I ended up paying £9 for 20 something raspberries as there weren't that many ripe ones anyway. Hard lesson to learn and left feeling I'd been duped !
