We did the 5K reverse muddy trials on 10th September. It was such a great atmosphere every before the race started and made the anticipation even better. The organisers were super friendly and and were wandering about chatting to folk and making us feel welcome. The course it's self was insane...but in the good way and lets be honest that's why we were there! I loved that people were helping each other and looking out for everyone and not just friends....It was great to be part of it and I can't wait to do it again.

User

WOW! I'm still soaking the mud out of my toe nails after 3 washes!!! This is the muddiest run I've ever done and it was truly a classy Scottish mud run event. Muddy bits in 5k mud runs are generally highlights here and there but this was a fairly relentless terrain-based-muddy-soggy-gloopy-glory-ru n, with just the occasional bit of woodland trail running thrown in for variety. It was a very challenging adventure. It literally took my breath away...especially in the optional underwater dook that was part of the assault course. My first ever experience of cold water immersion shock!!! Coool. Brrrrrrr. Be organised and get there early to park at the castle. This is a fantastic experience with all parts of this very challenging run very well recced and prepped by the team of organisers. It WILL challenge the 5k or 10k jogger...many of whom tought they MUST have gone at least 3k after the first 1.8k where you've already travelled down a gully, done 4 river crossings, been up to steep slopes and waded / crawled through what seemed like ??at least 300m of deep very muddy gloop??!!!! At you know you are no where near 'Shrek' yet! A superb mud run and a very satisfying adventure. Rest assured all the basics are very well done - key drop, changing, portaloos, baggage drop, hoses, parking etc...and t-shirt was good too!! I'm very grateful to the Craufurdland team for the experience.

User

Really well organised event, if you like trail running, if you like mud and you enjoy a good laugh this is the event for you! Great for those wanting a taster for ocr. And challenging enough for those who have competed in ocr’s.

Something for everyone.will definitely be back next year.

User

Ran this today in the 10K and found it so so tough! But I have to say what an experience! Never been in so much mud before! Good fun and something different!

User

Ran my first 10k yesterday with my son at muddy trials, very tough but so much fun. Can not wait until my next one. Excellent hospitalty thank you very much for a great day. 😊

User

My second time starting the New Year in Shrek and I loved it! Delighted to take some of it home in a jar as well. What a great idea!

User

If you love getting dirty it’s the place to go

User

I ran in the 10k led run last Sunday specially scheduled for those of us who could not make the re-scheduled main race due to bad weather. Despite being small in numbers, it was a great atmosphere, we had an awesome amount of fun, an even bigger amount of mud, and I can't thank our hosts enough- they were so hospitable and welcoming, and made the event really memorable. I would recommend it to anyone, and hope to come back and do it all again next year!!

User

Honestly the muckiest and best fun you can have at the same time as being totally knackered. Been to three now and will be there in September again! Well done keep up the good work guys.

Great day out for all the runners ... myself and the non runners sat back and let the kids play .. it was a brilliant day had by all... beautiful land and a lovely family, very welcoming... thank you also for making sure we got alfie there safely in the wheelchair ❤

User

Did my first trials today with my wife and totally loved it. Brilliant atmosphere and well run. Nice goody bag at end. If i could find one thing to suggest it would be more marshals in the woods as few of us were getting mixed messages and taking wrong routes but all in all who cares. Muddy trials was excellent !! I'll be back

User

Did my first mud run today. Between the Freezing water being neck deep in mud, we had an absolute ball.

Really friendly bunch of racers and staff on hand to help.

Well organised as well.

Will be booking for next year's

Thanks muddy trials....I now have the mud bug

User

Brilliant day out for OB Gym

Plenty of mud to keep us amused

Well stewarded

Plenty of Amenities for all

Loved it

We will be back well done to all involved

User

Ayrshire Biggest Losers back for another year. Loved it. All the staff were so helpful. Helped to make it a great day. We will be back

User

Amazed over how many muddy obstacles there were! Did the 10k today, it was cold, the body felt so weighed down with mud, it was hard work but absolutely hilarious at times. Thanks for all the marshal support!

Things to improve could be to get a louder speaker (to start us off), more loos, and clearer direction signage ( some distance notices would be nice too) somehow managed to miss the the NE loop near the end which was a shame but was happy at the time cos was knackered. Defo a race to remember!

User

A group of colleagues took me for my retirement. We were the only group there.

Can highly recommend it.

We were varying ages and abilities it was dirty fun at its best. Alex was a great sport wearing a tutu throughout. Also a great opportunity for team building and a great personal achievement to complete it unscathed.

User

1st muddy trial done today, what an awesome experience. Great course, great organisation and great fun 😀 will definitely be back for more. Well done to everyone who took part today, hope you are all having a well deserved drink. Gx

User

great course, loads of mud, great atmosphere... the only negative point would be lack of signage on the route .. we thought we had done the whole course but turns out we missed shrek as many of the 5k did today... Marshalls were amazing!

User

Really good event again.

But got to agree with missing Shrek, was disappointed about it.

Think the signage was the issue. Could have been clearer, especially after the water station. Sure we were off into the 10 k course.

Sort that, get a few more loos at the start and it’s an event well up with the best.
