Crocus Group Description

Crocus Child Bereavement Support Service

Why we are here. . . . .

The death of a close relative is a time of great sadness for a family.

For children this can be a confusing and distressing time. There may be unanswered questions about what has happened and the grief of other family members may cause added stress making it hard for the child to talk about their feelings.

We are here to help, support and manage a bereaved child.

A great wee summary from US grief support charity Eluna of what grieving children need and want their parents/carers to know ...

To mark the To Absent Friends festival, we invite you to join us to create a photo mural. We will take instant photographs of your special memory items or pictures and put them together in a display that will become a permanent fixture in our premises. This will be especially meaningful to the children and young people who use the space to be supported through their grief.
Our space will be open over these two evenings for people to share their memories together with refreshments provided and some arts and crafts materials available. We hope you can join us!

Crocus Group are delighted to share some good news - the Robertson Trust are providing £16,000 per year for three years, to help keep our current service running. The Robertson Trust is currently the largest independent grant-making trust in Scotland and has a vision to improve the quality of life and realise the potential of people and communities in Scotland – inspired by the example of their founders, the Robertson Sisters. We are so glad that they recognise the importance of a dedicated service for bereaved young people in Highland and their funding will go a long way to ensuring the sustainability of the support we provide.

We have secured funding to develop our yard at Crocus HQ into a garden space!
We would love for some of our young people to come along to help design our garden space on Friday 28 September, 2.00-4.00pm here at Crocus HQ. We have space for max 10 children, and a range of ages would be ideal so we can make sure the garden space will suit all our future service users. Get in touch to let us know if you would like to come along!

The summer holidays are almost here! Here at Crocus we will be taking a well-earned extended break over the school holiday period. Any new referrals received from today will be dealt with from mid-August, and also there will be no Crocus Clubs or Squads running over the holidays. We hope you all enjoy the sunshine! http://crocusgroup.org.uk/…/…/summer- holidays-new-referrals/
