Crossford Playgroup has been at the heart of the village for over 30 years, it has been a valued part of the community providing a gentle introduction through play to the preschool education system.

A friendly atmosphere is created within our playgroup, based on warm and caring relationships between staff and the children in our care.

Crossford Playgroup is a stimulating environment and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere within the village hall, it has a fully secured garden where children play freely and are encouraged to explore all areas and activities on offer.

The Playgroup provides:
• An excellent opportunity for children to socialise with others of their own age in a small group
• A greater say for parents in their child’s learning and development
• Funded places for 3 & 4 year olds (in Partnership with Fife Education)
• Playfriends for children with additional support needs (where there are difficulties or delays in communication or mobility)

Our Playgroup staff have passion, enthusiasm and a never ending commitment to the children. Parents are always assured that their child is happy, because their interests are nurtured, and their individuality respected.

Your child is allocated a 'Key Person', who is responsible for your child's well-being, ensuring your child feels individual, secure and cherished while they are away from home. Your child’s Key Person are available to liaise with you at the end of each session, keeping you informed of your child’s experiences at playgroup and ensuring you don’t have to miss out on any aspect of your child's day.

Playgroup staff carry out regular observations of every child in our care, ensuring your child’s learning and development incorporates their interests and needs. These observations cover all areas of learning according to the framework, as well as records of special moments, like kindness towards others or eating something for the first time, and spontaneous moments, which captures your child’s response to certain activities or events as they happen. All of your child's experiences at playgroup are recorded in their unique Learning Journal, enabling you to look over your child’s time at playgroup for years to come.

Preparing your child for school - Seamless Transitions
Our Staff at Crossford Playgroup do all they can to prepare your child for school. Actions and activities are in place to gently encourage preschoolers to become independent, encouraging activities like serving themselves at meal times, washing hands, and taking off their own coats. Your child’s new school will be given your child’s learning journey, which will include all the information on your child's experiences and development at nursery. The packs include observations from your child’s Key Person, playgroup staff and you as a parent.
