Culsharg Cottage is a 2-bedroom holiday cottage in Glentrool in Galloway Forest Park. It's a bungalow and is available for short breaks and weekly rentals.
Culsharg Cottage & Kelpies Cottage Description
Culsharg Cottage is in Glentrool Village, which is situated in Galloway Forest Park in Scotland. It is also the only village in our International Dark Sky Park which is why we get such awesome starry nights. We are also a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Community.
Culsharg Cottage is a single-storey bungalow and has been recently renovated and is simply, but colourfully decorated with comfortable beds and wall-mounted electric radiators throughout and lovely log burning stove in the living room. During your stay you can have as many baskets of logs as you desire, and we can help you "fire up" if you need assistance.
The kitchen is modern and has the usual appliances of cooker, fridge /freezer, microwave oven, kettle and toaster, plus a dishwasher. The hot water is an "on-demand" system. The bathroom has a brand new electric shower and enclosure; there is no bath. There is plenty of free on-site parking. Dogs are welcome, but the cottage has laminate wooden flooring throughout, so please be sure your pooch is happy with that. The rear bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage. The front bedroom has a "double bunk bed" (full size double underneath and single above) and an additional single bed. The cottage is thus suitable for two couples enjoying a break away together, or a family of two parents and up to three kids. Fresh bed linen is provided for each guest along with a single bath towel for each guest and hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom.
In the living room there are a couple of small sofas and a table /chairs for meals, but while there is a TV and DVD player provided in the cottage, there is no TV reception (or licence) at the cottage. We do, however, make a range of DVDs available for the odd quiet night in, and you can of course bring your own too. There is a free Wi-Fi service inside the cottage.
The entire bungalow is available to guests, barring a few cupboards for cleaning and maintenance materials.

On Monday we enjoyed some calm in the middle of the stormy weather and took ourselves for a wee walk. This is a lovely 2.6 mile loop you can do straight from the front door with some great mountain views ¤śŖ¤śŖ
We're really excited to be sponsoring the wonderful Merrick trail on Walkhighlands website! We love the Merrick and climb it ourselves at least a few times every year. Check it out ¤ź░¤ź░

Just behind Glentrool village you can find the White Cairn. Did you know that all of these types of cairn are known as Bargrennan tombs, after this one? How cool is that! Well worth a visit.
This is a picnic bench just a short distance from our cottages, maybe 1/2 mile away, on one of the many walks you can do in the area. What a great view. Taken today on 1st December 2019. We still have December vacancies if anyone wants a way for a short break.

Today we walked up the Merrick, it was a stunning day although freezing at the top! The first two pictures are the original Culsharg, now a bothy about a third of the way up the Merrick trail ¤śŹ
