The Coatbridge/Cumbernauld conglomeration in yesterday’s U35’s Cup had some highs and lows! Following Blantyre’s 6-4 win over Lanarkshire, the lads managed to deal a crushing blow to Lanarkshire’s chances with a 7-3 victory! It was Blantyre however that took the spoils from the day winning 8-2 in the final game against us, but not without a dramatic ending, with 2 games level on their last ends, and one of our rinks coming from 11-3 down to win 13-11! This match could have ended a lot differently, but that’s bowls 😂
Well done Blantyre and good luck in the next round! What an effort from Coatbridge/Cumbernauld!

The score line may say 9-1 to Cumbernauld, but it was far from a walkover against a strong and resilient Alloa team, with 3 of the 4 games being fought for tooth and nail! Well done to the Gents however, making it through to the next round where they face Paisley at Whiteinch!
Quite a sigh of relief after avoiding a possible trip to Forfar for what would have been a 3rd consecutive year in the 1st round stage 😂
... Good luck Gents!

We havent posted and updated in a while, we apologise for this, however, let's have a run down of what's been going on in the last month.
The Seniors played their final Scottish League Fixture in West Section B on December 9th and unfortunately finished 5th out of 6, winning 2 games and losing 8. Prestwick finished bottom of the pile. Blantyre won the league.
The final game for our Ladies was on January 19th in West Division 1 against East Kilbride who needed a win to garunte...e the league title for themselves. They ran out 78-33 victors over the Cumbernauld Ladies, leaving them 5th and rock bottom of the league with only 1 win from 8. Alloa who had the same statistics finished 4th on shots.
The Gents team were sat comfortably in 2nd heading into Christmas and New Year, after a win at home against Dundee 85-60. First game of 2019 however was no easy task as the Gents had to travel the distance to Fraserburgh who were top of the table but only by 2 points. A defeat of 117-55, while 3rd place Coatbridge jumped into 2nd and level points after a 110-58 victory over Headwell, meant a very bad Janurary 12th for Cumbernauld. Knowing that Fraserburgh now 4 points clear, had practically taken the Division 1 North League with 2 games to go, Cumbernauld could still make the playoff's by beating Headwell away and Balbardie at home, as Coatbridge had to play away to Dundee and Fraserburgh. On January 19th, with spirits still high, the Gents went to Headwell and came away with a victory of 90-83, while Dundee caused a stir beating Coatbridge 88-76.
1 game to go for the Gents and 2nd place has been taken back. A win over Balbardie at home on February 2nd, gives the Gents a last ditch opportunity to return the the Premier League next season if they win a possible playoff fixture.

Only two games of note today as the Ladies had a break! The Seniors travelled the short distance to rivals Coatbridge and if you read an earlier post from George Aitken, you will have read the small post match report! Despite a valiant fight but not meant to be 76-63 to Coatbridge 😓 Hard luck Seniors! Roll on next week and fingers crossed for a win 🤗 A great day for the Gents teams who were host to Fraserburgh! A tight game through out until the 17th end and a few big ends changed the game in Cumbernauld’s favour! 4 winning rinks and a score of 90-72! Joint top of the table ahead of a weeks break! Great job lads! Enjoy your rest

Another Saturday of indifferent results. The Senior's played host to Ayr in the morning and despite another close encounter, the 12th end changed the games outcome and it was Ayr who took the spoils 69 - 47. The Ladies who hosted Alloa at home in the afternoon, started the game strongly but Alloa showed they weren't pushovers. The game remaining close all the way to the end, where it finished 66 - 57 in the Cumbernauld Ladies favour! Well Done Ladies!! Sadly for the Gents it ...was not meant to be. A team missing some crucial players due to other commitments, they took on Dundee in Dundee. The game started quite evenly but by the 10th end the game started to take its turn in the home sides favour. Finishing 110 - 68 to Dundee.
League tables will be posted in due course, but for those interested take a look at the S.I.B.A website.
Congratulations again to the Ladies on victory and hard luck to the Seniors and Gents. Thanks especially though to the Gents that came in last minute to aid in making up our numbers. Its greatly appreciated from the Club and Representatives alike.
