Congratulations to Liz on reaching her 400 milestone, and also a shout out for Margaret who had an all green workout. With the weather so cold and blustery why not warm yourself up with this spiced sweet potato and bacon soup! (serves 6)
Ingredients: - 4 large sweet potatoes - 1 tablespoon of olive oil... - 1 large onion, peeled and sliced - 1 large carrot, peeled and sliced - 2 garlic cloves, minced - 1 teaspoon of turmeric - Dash of salt - 7.94 fl oz of vegetable broth - 3.97 fl oz of nonfat yogurt - 2 tablespoons of sliced scallions (spring onions) - 2 strips of extra lean turkey bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
1. Heat oven to 180°C, gas mark 4 2. Poke the potatoes in several places with a fork, place on a baking sheet, and roast until tender, 45 to 60 minutes, depending on size. Let cool enough to peel. (You can also use leftover sweet potatoes.) 3. Place the potatoes in a large food processor or blender and process until smooth. 4. Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the onion, carrot, garlic, turmeric, and salt and cook until tender, 12 to 15 minutes. Add to the blender along with the broth and yogurt and puree until smooth. Add more water if needed. 5. Add the soup to a large saucepan and heat, stirring frequently. Serve with the bacon and scallions sprinkled on top.

Here is Hanna's story ........
My Curves story starts 7 years ago while I was on holiday with my then husband and 2 young children. And I can remember the moment I decided to try Curves. I was sat out in the sunshine and felt horrible - overweight and lethargic and quite honestly just embarrassed of myself and couldn’t help feeling I must have been embarrassing my boys too. The decision was made there and then having heard another lady say she went to Curves and enjoyed it... and I decided surely I would manage it. I waited until the boys returned to school in August and feeling ridiculously nervous ventured through the door to be met by Jane - all smiles and can do/no problem attitude. Phew, so far so good - I actually went and purchased gym clothes! From my first workout I have loved Curves, its members and fantastic coaches. I don’t think I have ever been and not spoken to anyone or had a laugh and made some wonderful friends. My life has changed in so many ways since then - having lost 4½ stone, knowing I have reduced the risk of diabetes which runs in my family, but most of all my confidence has grown and I now like the person I am. Thank you Curves, I wouldn’t have done it without you.

Here is our testimonial from Kay .......
Hi my name is Kay, I am 50 married with two boys 20 and 17. I work as a receptionist for Parks Motor Group. I attend Curves two or three times a Week mostly in my lunch hour. It fits in with my day all be it a bit of a rush somedays if I’m late getting away from my desk. Curves is a real outlet for me, it gets me off my chair and moving my body. I love it, the environment is so friendly and there’s always some banter to join in with. ...The music is very uplifting we just have a lot of fun. The curves program works really well alongside my netball for which I train 2 hours a week and play approximately 12 league games a season. Curves is a great partner to the netball it gives me strength and a strong Core whilst adding to my general fitness. This all helps me to keep up with the youngsters in my team HaHa!!
