I've shared this a few times on my instafeed, but this is the first time I've found it on facebook.
I'm always banging on about this in class - whats the first thing you do when you see a bed in the middle of the room? You get up and lie on it! Why? Who knows! A sense of obligation maybe? Habit?
... Here's a brilliant video showing how a labour ward room can be adapted and used for an active birth... without once lying down on the bed!

I'm one of around 25 breastfeeding peer supporters in Midlothian. There are some cool events coming up through our group, Midlothian Breastfeeding Support... a screening of Tigers, and the 5th annual Breastfeeding Awareness Party with Breastfeeding Café... details of both are on the main page. I'd love to see you there! x

Just going to leave this here...
Fear makes us tense. Tension makes things painful. Pain makes us more fearful.... ...and on and on and on it goes.
Would you like to birth without fear?

We did it!
I did my 5k, Ryan did 1.5k, Adam did 1k... and Leila and I also ran 20 meters to the finish line and got a huge cheer from the crowd! 🤣
I'm proud of us all, including my lovely other half who had to do all the looking-after-of-kids and cheering on while I dashed around between races, despite the fact that he's only just out of his moon boot after injury 11 weeks ago.
... Thanks for all the sponsorship, the well wishes and the positive vibes.
P. S. I'll be doing it all again next week at the Midlothian Ladies Club Vogrie parkrun takeover. We still need volunteer Marshalls if anyone wants to come along and support, and get free cake at the end...?! 🍰

Just a post about lil' old me tonight... I got a last wee run in this evening in prep for tomorrow's 5k at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. I've not run in an actual event since I was a kid, so I'm weirdly nervous... I think I want to do well for the kids, so they're proud of me. The whole reason I signed up to do it is because the boys did the 1k and 1.5k for MS Society Scotland last year and when they asked to do it again I thought I really ought to get involved and set ...them a good example. And I really have worked hard. I've also learned that my body can do more than I give it credit for and, surprisingly, that I actually really enjoy running. I've also learned that my usual excuse of being too busy to take exercise doesn't cut it when I could step out of the front door and be back half an hour later.
If you fancy sponsoring us, the link is below, but just a few positive up-hill vibes around 11am tomorrow would be just as welcome! :)
Wish us luck! x

Last weekend was busy (do I say that every week?) - a private workshop on the Saturday, followed by a full day's training with the lovely Kathryn from The Daisy Foundation Edinburgh and a few others, to qualify as a Slingababy supporter. Yey! 😁
So we learned all about the practicalities of ring slings, different kinds of wraps, buckle carriers, mei tai's and more, as well as troubleshooting through loads of problems and questions people have about wearing them.
Better still..., another wonderful Midlothian mama was also at the training, and we're SO lucky to also have yet another fantastic Midlothian mama training up as a consultant this weekend as well... I really look forward to getting some sling meets going in Midlothian in the near future!

We were just talking about the CIO / self-soothe sleep methods at one of my Tinies classes last week... Dr. Thomas Anders, the guy who first used the term actually states that “Self soothing is a label we coined to contrast it with signaling (crying) upon awakening"... yes, thats right, it's just made up term, whose defination has been drastically altered to fit with the ideas of people who think baby's should be left to cry it out.

Ready for my Birthing mamas tonight. See you soon x

Right you lovely lot - less than a week to go so I'm just going to put it out there...
If you have a few spare pennies or pounds to spare for the MS Society Scotland then please sponsor me to do the 5k at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on Sunday.
I am not a runner.
... I have been working VERY hard to be able to do this - not just physically but mentally too.
I started a few months back , when I could barely manage 5 minutes of solid running. Tonight I ran a full 5k, including a 1.5k solid uphill to start with...I honestly never thought I'd make it, but I did!
My 5yo will also be running the 1k and my 7yo will be running the 1.5k (as they did last year too).

A bit of fun this Sunday evening. Who wishes they could get a partner to do this for 24 hours! Or 9 months?
