Well our unexpected guests were certainly doing some swanning! about at breakfast this morning.

Did you know that we were the proud hosts of the women’s Solheim Cup here at the Dalmahoy back in 1992 and, even better, it was the first European victory on home soil! #comeonthegirls #womensgolf #whyIgolf

When your airline says they have a hotel for you in a blizzard, you think Holiday Inn Express but I was lucky enough to end up here!! I cannot praise the staff highly enough! Everyone kept good spirits and went over and above to ease the frayed nerves of stranded guests as the ‘Beast from the East’ pummeled the area. First rate service all around. Thank you all again for taking care of me!!!

User

We recently got married at the Dalmahoy and had the most amazing day from start to finish. Everything ran so smoothly and the staff were beyond helpful. Caroline our wedding co-ordinator was just fab, we felt completely at ease in her and the teams capable hands. The hotel itself it just beautiful and the grounds made for some fanatic photos. Could not have asked for a more perfect day!

User

We had our wedding at Dalmahoy last Sunday 15th April. It was a brilliant weekend from the moment we checked in on Saturday to when we checked out on Monday morning. We were looked after like royalty by all the staff but especially by Caroline Sinclair, Dalmahoy's wedding co-ordinator, she was just wonderful we cant say enough good things about her.

The attention to detail did not go unnoticed by us or our guests.

Dalmahoy will always hold a special place in our hearts as we have celebrated family birthdays here in the past, so to hold our wedding here was very special. Thank you,

Mr & Mrs O'Neill

User

We had an overnight stay gifted to us by family .

Had a very enjoyable experience , fab room very cosy on what had been a cold weekend , lovely surroundings with a very nice meal in the Brasserie with friendly service .

Very relaxing end to night spent in the cocktail bar , a very relaxing night away with nice facilities at country club if we had been inclined to use them .

One of the best breakfasts we have had anywhere and we will definitely return

User

This is our third visit we were very fortunate to be in Turret Suite, King Deluxe & Lord Aberdour Suite on this occasion ; we have consistently been impressed with rooms, service & attention to detail. Having certain allergies the staff went out of their way make sure I wasn't consuming anything I shouldn't ! The food is well prepared presented and innovative in it's choice. We have been lucky enough to stay in 5 star hotels worldwide but continue to return to The Dalmahoy as the service is 5 star

Many thanks and see you soon . X

User

Stayed in the Morton Suite which was absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for my boyfriends birthday celebrations. We had room service dinner and breakfast and both were delivered quickly after ordering and we now have major post trip blues. The leisure facilities were perfect and open until 11pm at night so we used the pool/sauna/steam room at 10.30pm and were the only people in the pool which was lovely we can’t wait to come back and stay again!

User

Staff were amazing, lovely facilities and grounds. We were told there was no room service on the first night as they had run out of food so was a bit of an inconvenience to go out to Tesco and get food. Especially when they advertise it as 24 hours. But we had a lovely stay and would go again!

User

Once again another great stay.... your staff are just amazing. Stayed one night in a double room (husband decided at the last minute to come down a day earlier) then transferred to the Oban Suite for the second which doesn’t fail to disappoint.

We booked dinner bed and breakfast but unfortunately there was no space in the restaurant at a time suitable for our 4 year old son (this was our fault for not booking earlier) but we were able to order food to our room instead. Nothing was too much for the staff and we were met with lots of lovely smiles.

Will definitely be back if you’ll have us

User

My husband and I got married at Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club on 8th April 2018. In the run up to the wedding we had regular contact with the in-house wedding co-ordinator, Caroline Sinclair, who was extremely helpful and our dealings with her were always a pleasure. On the day itself we had an absolutely fantastic time, everything ran smoothly, nothing was a bother and we could not have asked for a better day. The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and always willing to help in any way they could and the location is so picturesque, the perfect spot for a wedding!

Asides from that, I can recommend both restaurants, particularly the Pentland Restaurant, room service was always very efficient, rooms were always clean and beautiful and the leisure facilities are of a very high standard. Occassionally it can get quite busy at reception which can lead to long wait times, similarly breakfast can get quite chaotic at busier times. I did have unfortunate dealings with a particular receptionist but all other staff members were absolutely fantastic and I would definitely say the Dalmahoy is more than worth a visit. We greatly enjoyed our multiple stays in the year running up to the wedding and for the wedding itself. All round a brilliant hotel!

User

Me and my wife Natalie got married at the dalmahoy 23/6/18 and we have to say it was the best experience of our lives! The venue was stunning, staff were brilliant and everything ran like clock work

Caroline Sinclair deserves a massive amount of Credit along with her team as she was brilliant on the build you to the wedding couldn’t be more helpful and no job was to big for her, the food and breakfast was great and the honeymoon suit was spectacular

Thanks again guys and we will be sure to visit soon

User

I was at the dalmahoy this Sunday as the Photographer for a wedding, I just wanted to leave a comment to the amazing wedding coordinator Caroline such a lovely lovely person and so helpful having never shot a wedding at this venue before Caroline was a saint the whole day going above and beyond, and all the staff we encountered were so welcoming great reception well done dalmahoy

User

I recently got married at the Dalmahoy and had the perfect wedding day.

Caroline is a fantastic wedding coordinator and helped so much in the run up to and on the wedding day itself. She really took y stress away, nothing we asked was a silly question and everything was taken care of to allow us to fully enjoy our day.

The food on the day was excellent and our guests thought we had chosen a lovely venue. I would also recommend the brasserie restaurant where we had an informal family meal the night before.

Myself and my bridal party stayed in a turret suite which was so spacious and great for getting ready. The period double myself and my husband had on the night of the wedding was also stunning.

The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all so helpful.

Thank you again for such a wonderful wedding!

User

From the moment we arrived we were really treated well by all the staff, who were all warm and friendly. This was not my first visit but it was for my three companions and we will all definitely be returning. First class experience!

User

The Hotel is in on a lovely golf club with character, nice gym and an indoor pool.

The Hotel used to be a Marriott but lost its franchise. The quality of food and service is rather poor. The staff should be friendlier and need training in how to deal with their guests.

Nice grounds

Little run down

Poor food

Needs more supervision and care and could be a six star resort.

User

It's a grand entry to what I thought woukd be a high end hotel. When in Edinburgh there is only one hotel that has the wow factor and high end service and thats The Grand Sheraton. However it was fully booked.

It's a bit rough round the edges with the reception planters over grown and the gardens needing a good overall as the floodlights are either rusty or smashed and in some cases not even there.

Reception is small and it's at first entry to this grand old building you realise it's a museum . The decor is seriously dated and has that nursing home look.

However the staff were super friendly and efficient. Quickly dealt with and allocated a room.

For £190 per night room only I was gutted at the rooms . Small and quite honestly so out of touch. The tv was an impressive for a room however Mini bar was empty. Room decor was again as mentioned seriously dated and nursing home spec. Bathrooms again seriously old fashioned however the water was hot and pressures good. But for £190 I felt ripped off as a premiere inn at £80 Is modern and tastefully decorated.

The leisure club and gym were ok and I mean bannantynes standard. Steam room wasn't working. Sauna was good and pool were good. But at this price compared to the grand Sheraton it's like comparing a Ford fiesta to a Bentley. There is no wow factor. Certainly does not warrant that price tag.

We decided to dine out with the hotel as the restaurants again did not have that wow factor . And from speaking to some guests this morning in the leisure club, they said the food was ok.

To sum up was it value for money? Absolutely not. It was such a shame as it has the potential to be a special hotel. But it's had its day. They have taken my £190 plus an additional £20 For breakfast but I certainly woukd not go back.

For that kind of money it's below par. And way off. Book into the Sheraton and see how it's done. 3 star.

User

We stayed here last weekend and have been here a few times, but this time we left feeling a little dissapointed, the room was acceptable, very noisy at times, with a humming noise, it was overly hot, I'm usually a cold person but it was to hot to sleep! We had an evening meal in the hotel, and the man serving was a bit useless, told me he didn't know what drinks they served! He was also to busy wastching the football that was on the telly!! I thought this was very rude, as this happened when he came over to ask us what we would like to order he stood watching the football and shoock his head before even acknowledging us! The food was ok very over priced for the portion size, the kids did eat free, and that was the only good think about it really, Unfortunately we will not be going back next year!!

User

Have to say we were a bit disappointed with our stay, first of all there was 3 of us... room was only set up with 2 of everything. Secondly there was about an inch of dust covering every surface in the room so obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There were what look like blood stains on one set of the bed sheets and there’s not even any bottled water in the room which I thought was pretty much standard anywhere?? Other than that the treatments we had at beauty essentials were amazing and the girls were lovely! Food was ok but for the money... not outstanding. Overall we were a bit underwhelmed and we wouldn’t book to come back.

User

A sign at reception saying “Itison Guests Not Welcome” would be fairly accurate ....

Denied access to the Restaurant - despite having booked a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast break was the first disappointment straight from Check-In...

Eating at the Bistro with the rest of the Itisoners was ‘ok’ even when your waitress wants to argue about the validity of your voucher and restricts your menu choice.

I’m far from precious, but more than a little disappointed at our first return since we had our wedding at your hotel....

Dalmahoy was definitely run better when it was under Marriott. If you don’t want ‘Itisoners’ don’t list breaks on Itison!!!!

Question for General Manager - would you have got me a table in restaurant if I’d kicked off at reception like the guy before me did?

Would we have been flown into Bistro has it been me that landed my Helicopter off the 1st tee?

My family had started meeting for afternoon tea every couple of months. The first time we went to the Dalmahoy we very much enjoyed it, apart from we had requested a vegan option which we were told would not be an issue and when we turned up were told that they could not provide a vegan alternative, and something would have to be ordered from the menu. This was slightly annoying but the day turned out to be a success so we rebooked for the next time.

When we turned up the had no record of our booking. We were asked to sit and wait whilst they got a table ready for us, we waited 40 minutes and at no point did staff approach us to offer us a drink or check anything was ok. Eventually we were shown to a table in a dark corner of the restaurant and left with no service again, eventually we got the attention of one of the members of staff and were told we would have to wait another 20minutes. At this point we were left with no option but to walk out. The staff were standing around and made no effort to correct anything. On our way out we spoke with the general manager who could not be more apologetic and issued us with a voucher to come back and dine for nothing.

My aunt is celebrating a big birthday this week and we thought it would be a great to try the Dalmahoy again on Saturday for the occasion. The day started well, we handed out voucher and were served our tea, and food with no issues. Before everyone arrived my cousin handed a cake in that she had driven all the way to the other side of Glasgow to collect as it was a specialist vegan cake. She gave the cake in and asked if they could simply keep it in the fridge as it was so warm in her car. Finishing the meal we were handed slices of cake, the whole table looked at each other in confusion and we clicked someone had decided to cut the cake (which was decorated with a birthday message) without checked with any of us, also without bringing the cake out with candles.

Just when the day couldn’t get any worse we were handed the full bill, with an extra person added on. Needless to say we left without handing over a penny.

They had attempted to put the cake back together but it was ruined.

To sum it up the Dalmahoy is no longer decent venue. The service is terrible, the staff are clearly not given the adequate training. It’s clear to see how this is no longer part of the Marriott group.

We had an overnight stay gifted to us by family .

Had a very enjoyable experience , fab room very cosy on what had been a cold weekend , lovely surroundings with a very nice meal in the Brasserie with friendly service .

Very relaxing end to night spent in the cocktail bar , a very relaxing night away with nice facilities at country club if we had been inclined to use them .

One of the best breakfasts we have had anywhere and we will definitely return

This is our third visit we were very fortunate to be in Turret Suite, King Deluxe & Lord Aberdour Suite on this occasion ; we have consistently been impressed with rooms, service & attention to detail. Having certain allergies the staff went out of their way make sure I wasn't consuming anything I shouldn't ! The food is well prepared presented and innovative in it's choice. We have been lucky enough to stay in 5 star hotels worldwide but continue to return to The Dalmahoy as the service is 5 star

Many thanks and see you soon . X

I was at the dalmahoy this Sunday as the Photographer for a wedding, I just wanted to leave a comment to the amazing wedding coordinator Caroline such a lovely lovely person and so helpful having never shot a wedding at this venue before Caroline was a saint the whole day going above and beyond, and all the staff we encountered were so welcoming great reception well done dalmahoy

From the moment we arrived we were really treated well by all the staff, who were all warm and friendly. This was not my first visit but it was for my three companions and we will all definitely be returning. First class experience!

3 star.
