Congratulation to our ladies badminton team who beat the “Happy Monday’s” 4-2. The men unfortunately lost 4.5-1.5 to Carnoustie but assured us that their banter more than made up for the score!! 🤣
If you are interested in playing for either team please get in touch with coach Robin Nisbet.
The next matches are this Sunday. Good luck!! 🏸

User

Congrats to Coach Robin Nisbet after becoming the clubs third qualifier from the TS300 series events of the Tennis Scotland Open Tour. He joins Ruari McLennan and David Killean in the next round.
Robin had to work hard to beat Charlie Robertson who played exceptionally well in the final. Well done Charlie!!

Congratulations to our member, Samantha Lowe who held a fantastic fundraiser in our function suite on 23rd September. The event raised a whopping £535 for the Neonatal Unit at Ninewells where her daughter Iona spent a week after a difficult birth. The event was great fun hosted by “Paint It Up”. Congratulations again from all at DL Dundee!

I have just taken over as Sports Manager so I would tell you the club is great. But as a person who is passionate about Sport, food and community spirit, there is no better place to be a member. We have some incredibly passionate and highly qualified Tennis coaches who run a fantastic program from tots up to adults advanced classes.

My Iona is 3 and loves attending Swimming, Tennis, Gymnastics and DLL Kids classes.

We have so many clubs within our club and amazing facilities.

Indoor 25m pool

20m outdoor pool (fantastic on a sunny day)

6 indoor tennis courts

Outdoor tennis courts

3 Squash courts

4 Badminton courts & Sports hall

1 studio about to increase to 3

Huge gym about to be refurbished

Table tennis

Kids soft play area

Cafe with Fast Fitness Food

The list goes on!

We have been a member of David Lloyds Dundee for 2 years and over all we love it. The kids team are just amazing and bar/reception staff are always friendly. Only one criticism at the moment. We have twin 7 year old girls and when we joined there were books for them to read and pictures to colour in to keep them amused then the revamp came and all that went out the window and we were left with 2 tablets and an indoor area for them to play which was ok but nowhere near as good. But now the indoor play is hidden behind a soft play for 3 and under only which the older kids also enjoy but are not allowed in. I appreciate that there should be a separate area for the younger kids but feel the older kids are being forgotten. Would be nice if there was more for the older kids to do. I used to enjoy spending time there socially but the kids get bored now and we are forced to leave. We also can't see the children playing and to get them out we have to crawl in! Bit disappointing.

I would like to say that myself and my families have been a member at DL for quite a long time and as much as it's not a 100% perfect all the time, I'm glad to say that each staff I come across are very helpful and polite and always happy to help. Arlene at receptions are always happy even though at time she is so busy and it's also goes with the bar staff, Cheryl, Joan and Cameron are always happy to help. Gym classes I go to are alway brilliant (busy) but brilliant. The pool are great for my boys ( baby pool are always been small so I learn to accept it after all it was next generation who design it) and last it's great to catch up with some great people that I met from the club. X

I had lunch at the club yesterday with my husband and grandson ....new menu...I have to say I wasn't too lmpressed! my grandson couldn't get macaroni for lunch....the old menu had more choices this one is mainly snacks,I understand when your busy it's too much for the kitchen to deal with ...it's now not suitable for dinner!

User

Went to order food after being at the gym, and i had a look at the menu and was very disappointed, very poor selection to choose from unless your a vegeterian

Please get chicken or something on the menu so i dont need to go to mcdonalds again as the wifes cooking is bad enough

User

Indoor tennis courts are fantastic but due to the amount of coaching it's very difficult to book courts for working people like myself. The outdoor courts are in a poor condition and need resurfaced. Also it would be better if the outdoor courts had a bubble roof so they could be used over the winter period which is almost all year round in Scotland.

In my opinion £65 a month isn't worth the money without getting a regular game of tennis. Spend some money on the outdoor courts David Lloyd and get a roof over them and you will get a lot more members from the tennis community.

User

Overpriced and very overrated. Been a member off and on since it was Next Generation. The lack of basic gym equipment is staggering. For years me and others have asked for the basics, for example a calf raise machine, thinking that due to the mini refurbishment we would be rewarded. Nope, some monstrosity that no one uses was installed. I've yet to see someone use it who wasn't in a class or PTing. Added to that, 2 new studios taking up space that again are only used periodically.

Then at the end of last year the letter came in that the membership was going up by £5.50. At that, I cancelled.

Fast forward to today. Annoyingly, it is a convenient location and I got an email saying come back and join us etc etc. No membership fees until Oct. Gave them a phone, it would appear that the membership I was on has gone up a further £1.50 AND they want £50 joining fee. No one charges that, and if they do it's waived. Anyway, nope, not paying it. The gyms not worth it.

I'll just travel a little further and use a fully stocked gym for less than £20. Such a shame.

User

So tonight I had my usual gym session, minding my own business and went up stairs to the scales in the swimming changing rooms because the ones downstairs were broken. I was on the scales and some tennis guy, I would say was in about his 50's, walks in and pops his head down and says "you're near the danger zone on that - they aren't made to go that high". Then he continues to say something along the lines of "the needle shakes when you are at that weight" - now as he is saying this I am not saying anything and just sniggering but in a pissed off way as you could imagine. As I was away to leave the changing room he said "if only scales could talk" to which I responded "they would say you were being rude" and he said "yes they would"

Now I don't know about other members of this club but I don't want to have to put up with being made fun of when I stand on the scales after losing half a stone and feeling good about it. I was disappointed I had to cancel my membership for David Lloyds but now I have a good reason to quit. Members of the club making fun of me.

I will now only ever give bad reviews about the club from what I experienced tonight!

User

So before I joined the gym I told them I was on a probation period on my work and was not sure if I was going to be kept on, they told me if I joined on a 3 month contract and did end up loosing my job I would need to hand in proof from my employer that I no longer work there so I did exactly that, I signed the cancel membership slip and was told that everything was cancelled and I was no longer a member (this was at the start of September) and from then I have been harassed with emails, texts, phone calls and letters saying I Owe them £135?? I told them I did everything their staff told me to do so why do I owe them money if I haven't been a member since September and it's now November.. a women from David Lloyd Dundee basically told me 'yes you have handed in a letter saying you no longer work at your job but how are we meant to know you don't have another job' I was out of work for over a month and I have recently just got myself a new job she told me 'basically if you don't pay it you will be black listed' I find this absolutely shocking I don't owe the club a single penny maybe if they trained their staff properly and they didn't give out false information things like this won't happen the place is a joke and I am going to be taking this further and getting legal advice.
