Its our staff party today and if you come in from 3pm you'll see some unfamiliar faces as the Milton Keynes team are kindly staffing the club for us.
Everything will be running as normal except the kitchen, which will close at 6pm.

Would just like to say I did aqua fit yesterday, something I'd never consider doing ,and was brilliant! Pedro at David Lloyd Cambridge amazing instructor.....need more classes with this guy teaching!

User

Without a doubt the best gym in Cambridge!! Where else in Cambridge can you relax by the outdoor pool or train in the gym (with no broken machines) whilst your children are being entertained in the kids club!!

User

What a great club day today at David Lloyd Cambridge. The club, led by Katie Summers, supported a significant charity event with bikes, space and staff. A very inclusive event that was great fun. Well done to all involved. This is why I belong to a club rather than a sports centre - the staff are all very welcoming and make it a real pleasure to come to the club. The current high standard of the studio instructors is the best I have seen in my many years... Keep it up!

User

We have been members of David Lloyd Cambridge club for a few months now, and I can safely say this is the best gym I have ever attended in Cambridge. Friendly staff, amazing facilities, great pool and spa, great machines, great cafeteria, you name it.

Last weekend, we decided to hire the kids' party services on offer for our son's 4th birthday party. And what a great party it was! The two party organisers were keeping everyone entertained, and fed, and all the kids loved it! Our son has been repeating over and over how great his party was! Kudos to everyone! We will be back and recommend you to our friends!

User

The whole family are members and love the summer especially, with the outdoor pool and holiday vibe of the gym. I teach a couple of classes a week here, but am very fussy about where I teach and wouldnŌĆÖt if I felt the gym was of poor quality. David Lloyd Cambridge is friendly and somewhere that people actually want to go to, not only exercise but also to socialise..... a major achievement for a gym in this day and age where mental fitness is as important as physical fitness.

User

No sure why people have negative feedbacks in here, I come here for the week learning my level 2 fitness course with lifetime training! And I've trained in many gyms and this is one of the best I been in! Amazing equipment considering this is a public gym the equipment in here is extremely good stuff even down to the weight plates, well set out, reception and cafe staff were very friendly at all times, coffee was well priced, food was served quickly, members were very friendly also and felt very welcome here! Not at any point did I feel intimidated by anyone will definitely be coming out my way every now and then to train here being as I'm down near London! Thanks again

User

Just had an awesome time at the Summer Cycle Sunday. Did loads of miles on a static bike , but Phill Hill did over 50 miles and David Freeman did over 50 miles too. Well done guys. A lady has no need to divulge either her age or miles covered. The Bairns came along too and had great fun playing Zorb football but the pool is their favourite. I'm just hoping I've won with my bid in the silent auction for David Lloyd guest passes. A big thanks to Yaz, Katie, Gareth and everyone who made this happen. ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

I was the first person in the gym on the opening day I think it's was an April first or May first but I know it was at 6.30 in morning but I was the first in David's that opening

day.

User

I think the place is great and have been a member for over a year. It's a shame some visit once and then review it with 1 star.

User

I love it! Great for families and great to go on your own to workout and/or chill out.

User

I have been using cr├©che at David lloyds Cambridge for a long time and I am very happy with the service they provide. I can't praise the team enough they are very kind, polite and lovely to my children :) my girls love going there!

User

Friendly staff, my son was unsure going into his first kids club session. When I went to collect him, he didn't want to leave. Swimming pool, changing rooms and gym clean. Cleaners visible.

User

Fantastic facilities.

User

Awesome club, great facilities, great staff and amazing motivation on group classes, is just what someone need to focus on what you really go to a gym!

Don't be scared by the cost or membership regulations, if you go to a gym you will dedicate time to beat your goals and that means time!

User

Pros:

Great large in/outdoor pools.

Good range of classes and equipment.

Cons:

Expensive

Use of disabled bays common place by non-disabled members, and not stopped by the club - very annoying.

User

I visited as i am a member of ringwood david lloyd. The reception staff were friendly. No problems signing in and using my guest pass for a friend. We were given directions to changing rooms and classes. Les mills Classes were exactly as expected and tge room was large so it wasnt hard to get on the class.....no booking drama. The gym is huge and facilities look good. Ill definitely return. I didnt use the pool or cafe.

User

I have recently started using this venue again. Of the facilities I use all seem fine.

Two points to raise though:

Having a large red free standing baby changing table in the disabled toilet is inconsiderate and difficult for those with limited mobilty to use. Please remove it and replace with a modern wall mounted one.

The outside grassed area near the swimming pool needs to be regularly checked for used plates/plastic glasses and also litter (which clients should be placing in the litter bins provided).

User

Great Fitness yoga class with fantastic instructor Katya Mohsen!!! 5* no doubt! I just wished there were more classes with her!!!

User

David lloyd Cambridge is a lovely place to go, it's got facilities to cater for everyone. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The gym is a good size with more than enough equipment for a good work out! Would definitely recommend it!

User

Wish they would sort the parking out. Even in the week. Just because people have flash cars doesn't mean they can park in parent& child spaces or disabled when they are neither disabled or have kids.

User

The gym itself is very good. But the kitchen staff haven't a clue. If I get vegetables again that look as if they have been kept in old dish water for a month, I'm going to go crazy. How can any respectable chef send out food to a paying customer that looks like shit?

User

ItŌĆÖs OK

User

I was robbed today April 2nd at David Lloyd's club in Cambridge, someone opened my locker during my training session and has stolen all my money! Please do not use number locks, use key locks! Number locks are to easy to open!!!!

Reaction of the club: "we are very sorry your money is gone" ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

User

I have been a member for two years now, so here's an honest appraisal...

Parking - too many members not enough spaces (people park on pavements and roundabout now!)

Food- was great, but standards have slipped due to staff shortages

Staff- staff are great but obviously overworked and peak times you can wait 45 mins for food (orders usually wrong) and table clearing suffers

Facilities- again due to staff shortages can work well when covered. The pool management with life guards varies and can be frustrating when they ban children from the outdoor pool until 4pm during school holidays without notice

Kids Club/Creche- works very well and the staff are excellent

SPA/Beauty- separate company called INNA SPA- probably the most outstanding thing about the club!

Do not use the car wash guy outside in the car park- we have made formal complaints about this guy, who charges what he feels on the day and tried to charge me ┬Ż45 to clean my car as it "had mud on it" (might be something to do with having a nice car as the price board stated ┬Ż25- but he refuses and said "new price for this car"). Crook!

Considering almost everyone is paying over ┬Ż100 to attend this club- standards must improve and a number of us have written to the Club Manager Grant about this. So this isn't a "one visit rant" or reaction to one bad experience...

User

Good facilities, lovely outdoor pool (indoor one is good too), lots of tennis courts though they charge extra for tennis membership. Excellent gym facilities. Nice cafe selling good food. Lacks a few toilets though! And sometimes if you have a question it can be very tricky finding a member of staff capable of answering. Love the family-friendly facilities, though it is not as good as it was when we joined. Tricky to get parked sometimes.

User

There is lots to admire about David Lloyd Cambridge however i have one big gripe in their tennis court booking system. Its very hard to get tennis courts at peak times and what's more frustrating is that when the booking system says there are no free courts and you go in and find that half the courts are empty. Often when you ask at reception its either coaches booking courts on the off chance of having someone to pay more money on top of the already expensive membership as they can readily offer you coaching slots at times you cant get courts to play with your friends or a limited no of people who always seem to get courts even though bookings are supposed to equally open to everyone. On some evenings half the courts are booked out for block coaching with private hirers also taking courts up. When you lead a busy working life and only have a few non working evenings only having a couple if courts available to members is not very good customer service.

User

It's not really a place to work out but if you're looking for somewhere to take a selfie and Facebook then reception appears to be excellent.

User

I'm really disappointed with the Cambridge branch of David Lloyd. We came in over a week ago to find out about membership and were told no one was available but to leave our details and someone would be in touch. 4 days later still nothing so I sent an email to their customer service centre and 3 more days have gone by with no contact. It seems impossible to join!

User

What a great service. Too expensive and their staff attitude is absolutely horrible and impolite depending on whether the customer wants to join the membership. They are more interested in money than the customer's experience there and completely ignore you and make you wait for a long time when you still want to find out more information about the offer. Absolutely lovely. Great treatment! ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

User

Sorry to report that my own experience with David Lloyd Cambridge falls very short of expectations given the high fees - the club is poorly maintained; the bar and food arrangements and quality, are far below reasonable standards and the management is weak and ineffective in responding to our needs and issues arising.

There is also the recent matter of a widespread and unilateral decision to close the squash courts - it seems to impact a large number of the 'clubs' and has taken place without any notice/consultation with members - not something I would have expected for a 'club'.

I do feel that while all commercial entities need to make money - DL is at the very sharp edge of maximising revenue with the least possible effort - and to hell with the 'members' if they don't like it....

Not great and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

User

My first visit to David Lloyd in Cambridge today (07.10). My first impression were WOW on the approach. Decided to go for a swim, swimming room floor was dirty and rubbish everywhere you looked, old hair bobbles, caps of shampoo bottles, cups of water all over the floor area, Windows looked like then hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Showers, no hot water, no shower gel. Totally disappointed with my first visit. I was not the only person that complained this morning and listening to other, showers have been like it for quite sometime ’┐Į

User

It is the THIRD Sunday in a row that I go to the club looking forward to a dip in the spa, and then ...surprise, surprise: it was closed. I'm afraid I am sick and tired of being told " Sorry, we're working on it". I have been a member for over 10 years and have never ever failed to pay the monthly fee when it is due. But if I did, I'm sure that saying " Sorry, I'm working on it" wouldn't be good enough. For the amount I pay every month, I expect the facilities to be up and running. Instead, I have to put up with people trying to fob me off for failing to live up to expectations.

User

I m a member of a David Lloyd Cambridge and I hate their pool, sauna and steam room! Pool is dirty, stincky sauna and steam room!! Staff walk around in the pool area with their trainers! I see members going to the loo with bare foot and no one bothers to take shower before they hit the pool! Staff is just hangig around and not doing much either! Make this gym spotless and clean!!

User

I can't say 'I hated it' because I can't use it. I'm a member in London but apparently at DLL Cambridge, wheelchair users aren't welcome. There's a hoist for the pool but nobody can use it. Apparently nobody has training.

I bet though there's always someone on site who knows how to use the gym machines. I bet there's someone on site who knows how to fix a loo. Or change a light bulb. Or make a cup of tea.

But nobody in the entire staff of DLL Cambridge can put the hoist next to the pool and crank the handle

Thank you DLL so much for making your club so inclusive and welcoming to wheelchair users. Oh no. Wait. Wheelchair users are less important than a broken toilet.

User

Hey David Lloyd Cambs - seriously poor service and won't be becoming a member thank you very much. I had thought to become a member by signing up for the ┬Ż14 for 14 days promo. I needn't have bothered. When I showed up for the appointment to be shown and inducted into the gym on Tuesday 8th Dec (appointment arranged over the phone the day before), I was told that the trainer who supposed to meet me, and every other trainer for that matter, was off site at a meeting and had been all day. Rather than phone all affected customers who had appointments that day, to give warning of this cancellation, they waited for us all to show up just to be turned away! Oh and it is impossible to enter the gym as a non-member for a casual session too. What a waste of my time! I was assured the trainer I'd booked in with yesterday would call me back today to re-schedule the induction session. It is now 3.30pm in afternoon and I've heard nothing, not even an apology. Obviously you don't want my custom - this will be another gym's gain!

User

Cold showers again today! Despite telling a member of staff at 6.05 that the poolside showers were cold they were still cold an hour later. This is not good enough. Before raising membership costs again perhaps management could sort boiler out. Those of us that use the club when it opens at 6am are not able to use a lot of the facilities such as jacuzzi, steam room & sauna as they are not warm. We should be paying less not more!

User

Avoid the cr├©che - unorganised, frequent lost bookings and often turned away at the door as full! Management not in the least bit concerned. Used the cr├©che for 6 years never known it as poorly run.

User

After constant abuse from the yoga teacher Howard daly and even shouting abuse at me in the gym when it was busy for everyone to see and the manager Julie had to send him out the gym floor nothing was ever done about the staff member, so finally having enough as he even does this when I have my daughter with me i.e sticking his fingers up the club say I have to pay for a further 3 months to leave . Total disgrace the club donŌĆÖt seem to care about much apart from signing you up as a member

User

Would just like to say I did aqua fit yesterday, something I'd never consider doing ,and was brilliant! Pedro at David Lloyd Cambridge amazing instructor.....need more classes with this guy teaching!

User

Great PT session with Ash. Every session is different and IŌĆÖm getting stronger and fitter ¤Öī
