The DRUFC mini's is run principally by the parents of the children and adheres fully to the requirements and recommendations of the RFU and RFUW and, in particular, the ethos for Equity in Sport, Health & Safety and Child Safeguarding.

The Mini, and Youth rugby section divides into two parts: Mini (Under 6s to Under 12s) and Youth (Under 13s to Under 17s) .

At Under 6, 7 and Under 8 age groups Tag rugby is played. Contact rugby starts at Under 9 to Under 12 where the game is played on half the pitch and with a limited number of players in accordance with the RFU Continuum.

Our youngest Dragons were in fine form again at Bourne today, where we played the hosts and Wisbech. This squad is developing into a really strong group and the skills they are showing for such a young group are great. Passing before the tag, tagging as individuals and a team, strong running and sidesteps so outrageous that the opposition are still turning!! Very proud of them all and a big thanks to the parents for their support, especially as it's Mothers Day.

We had a great mornings rugby at DRUFC last weekend with matches across the U7-U11 played against Oundle. While the weather took a turn for the worse - the kids didn't seem to mind too much, and took the opportunity to get extra muddy!
Full results across the teams are still being gathered - but the overarching impression is that all our Dragons did a magnificent job.
Our youngest (U7) Dragons continued their successful run - racking up compliments from the Oundle coaches on... the maturity of their play, teamwork and passing. Its great to see them developing at such a pace.
At the other end of the park - our U8 Dragons were firing on all cylinders - and only lost 1 of the 6 matches they played against what was a very handy Oundle squad.
Great results all round - which sets us all up nicely as we move into the festivals to close off the season!
Well done to all our Dragons!!

U7s Match Report v Boston We welcomed our guests from Boston on a grey and cool morning but the tag rugby played by both teams kept the players and spectators warm. Boston proved to be a very capable team whose support play and tagging gave the Dragons their toughest challenge this season. The major difference between the teams was the collective tagging and "pressing" by the Dragons that forced the Boston team back on many occasions, however they didn't make as many mistake...s as previous opponents when under pressure. The Dragons yet again showed their speed and great support play when in attack, and the ability to pass before the tag is proving to be a great tactic when opening up space for team mates to attack. The Ridgebacks and the Horntails both won their matches and the final match saw all the Dragon players combined and rotated and ended with another win for the U7s squad, maintaining their overall unbeaten season. The performance particularly impressed coach Matt Allen who stated "That was the most impressive and effective display of tagging I have witnessed in all my years of coaching tag rugby" Well done to the whole squad.
