Laura graduated from the University of Dundee in 2008 with a BSC in Oral Health Sciences. As a dental therapist, her role is to carry out restorative fillings, professional tooth cleaning, whitening and give advice on how best to care for your teeth and gum health in the prevention of dental diseases. Outside of work Laura’s interests include live music events, crocheting, baking , skiing and photography and she has participated in various Half Marathons.

Alisdair graduated from The University of Dundee in 2011 and has worked in both Stirlingshire and Lothian before moving to Dentistry @No3.
He provides high quality general and cosmetic dentistry, and has undertaken training in high speed bracesTM and Invisalign, giving patients their perfect smile. Since graduating, Alisdair has continued to develop and enhance his skills, achieving a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, and has completed a certificate in R...estorative Dentistry through the Tipton Training Dental Academy.
Alisdair enjoys working with patients that are dentally anxious, taking the time to ensure that they are put at ease receiving treatment in a relaxed and pain free way.
Outside of work Alisdair enjoys spending time with his young family, travelling, socialising and playing golf.

Dr Alan Carter featured on new national implant dentistry patient website Dunfermline dentist Dr Alan Carter is featured on a new national implant dentistry patient website called click4teeth. In addition to the UK’s biggest directory of dentists who provide tooth implant treatment, the site includes lots of helpful information for anyone considering replacing missing or failing teeth.
Alan Carter has a keen interest in replacing lost teeth. He placed his first implant in 1...986 after training in Manchester and Germany and since then has carried out over 500 implants. Alan routinely places the implants in the practice but also works with a colleague, Paul Tran, on the more complex cases. Alan is able to help patients with a spectrum of treatments from the replacement of a single lost tooth to the fixing of a loose denture with implants. Alan qualified in Edinburgh in 1974.

There has been a lot of publicity recently about the effects on general health and wellbeing of gum disease. We should all now take gum problems very seriously and redouble our efforts to maintain clean and healthy teeth. Our hygienists provide the support we all need to reach the hidden away areas of our mouths- which our brushes a problem. Over the next few months we will be targeting our patients who would most benefit from more support with their gums and in the future we intend to offer blood screening tests so that we can determining which patients are more at risk. We are entering a very exciting phase of dentistry now.

Alan has just attended a course on Quick Smiles- rapid front teeth straightening using fixed tooth coloured wires and brackets. He already straightens teeth with the removable Inman Aligner, and this new procedure offers a fixed alternative for patients who want the fixed option-which is less bulky in the mouth but may take a little longer.

A busy week ahead. Most of the children are back at school now and looking forward to the Easter holidays. Here at Dentistry at No 3 it's a week full of smile makeovers and looking after our lovely patients.
If you are visiting us, look out for Claire who has been working with us for the last 7 years. Claire is a Registered Dental Nurse and is usually seen assisting one of our dentists, Stephi in the surgery. Claire loves to see the transformations with the smile makeovers that Stephi and her are involved with and loves seeing happy confident patients at the completion of their treatment.
