IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
After a career spanning 34 years , starting in The Auld Worthies in 1984 I have finally decided to ‘hang up my towel’. As of Tuesday , first of May , whilst many were washing their faces with the morning dew I was handing over the business I built up over the last 15 years to Mr Richard Bell. Richard is taking over the reins , initially for the next five years . I should point out that I’ve had many offers that I’ve declined but feel that Richard off...ers stability , dedication and vision , hence my acceptance of his offer. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time, mostly in Gorgie / Dalry and have met some lovely, funny, genuine, friendly people and a few psychos as well ! I could write a book with some of the stories , happy and sad . I’ve attended far too many funerals of people I’ve cared about deeply. The rollercoaster that is Heart of Midlothian has ran a parallel, from away buses , Euro trips , amazing characters, highs and lows . Protests to celebrations , cup finals to first round exits ! There are too many people to thank who have supported me , so thank you to each and everyone of you. I don’t want to name names in case I offend anyone by accidentally omitting them . I’m going to take the next few months doing literally zero , spoil Oban for once in his life and I’m going to enjoy my memories that you’ve all contributed to.
I’m having a farewell day , this Friday 11th May from 2pm until late ( as long as I can last ) Free buffet , drinks on me and entertainment from the very talented Craig Herbertson . If you are reading this , you are invited and it will be great to see you , even if only for a short while .

Whilst we are out of some lagers due to panic buying and deliveries not being able to reach us , Tennents , Carlin and Staropramen are all SOLD OUT . We will be open at 9 am this morning for the sale of pineapple-ade , Orangina and lime cordial ! Be safe on your way to & from the pub !

Could all customers please assist staff when requesting drinks , a clear and concise request will ensure all drinks are served in the correct glass , any of our resident Hibs fans wishing theirs in a cup are out of luck . By using a ‘Natural Order’ at the bar, you will be served our ice cold Tennents at Minus One !

I’m sure every person can empathise with the Woodburn family , and admire their dignity despite the horrendous loss of their much loved & much respected son . The travesty of a justice system that protects the guilty and neglects the victims merely serves to prove that the Woodburn family deserve the support of all . #justiceforshaun

Following our Xmas & New Year Bonus Ball extravaganza, we still have £300 prize money unclaimed . If you entered our New Year draw, number 34, please get in touch to arrange collection of the money. We do have security questions to ensure no one falsely claims . As we are trying to be fair to everyone, it has been decided that if still unclaimed , then the draw if Saturday 20th January will mean that all original entrants are in a ‘roll-over’ and whomever matches the bonus ball will be paid out the monies.
