A Service of Thanksgiving at Blackburn Cathedral for the ministry of The Venerable Michael Everitt, the Archdeacon of Lancaster, and his wife Ruth Everitt took place at the weekend, writes Ronnie Semley, Diocesan Communications Manager. Beginning at 6pm on Saturday evening, the Thanksgiving including a Eucharist, gifts and many warm tributes. It was attended by family and friends and many familiar faces from across the County from the span of Michael and Ruth’s time in the D...iocese. It was a chance to formally thank them both for their many years of service. With this Facebook post is a selection of pictures from the Service and more pictures can be viewed in a flickr album. There is also a 'farewell interview' with Michael that can be read on the Diocesan website. And we even have the full text available of Michael's sermon from Saturday. Our Diocese's 'South Asian Christian Convention' is due to take place again on Sunday after a successful first two years. At the last event, which took place at Blackburn Cathedral, Archdeacon Mark said: “I have already expressed the hope that another convention will take place, as I believe it has the potential to grow and become a really important part of the life and witness of our diocese.”
That hope is now a reality and on Sunday July 14 at 4pm the third Convention wil...l be held, focusing on the a key aspect of the Diocesan Vision 2026: making disciples of Jesus Christ. Bishop Julian will be the main speaker this year, and the service – to which all in the Diocese are welcome - will be bilingual (Urdu and English). The venue is St John's Church Centre, Barkerhouse Road, Nelson, BB9 9EY.

Our FREE communications and marketing advice day for parishes takes place in November. ‘Get Your Church Noticed’ is now an annual event and, since inception four years ago, it has consistently received fantastic feedback from the parish representatives who attend. It will take place at the Diocesan Offices from 10.30am until 3.30pm on November 16 this year and is run by Ronnie Semley, our Diocesan Communications Manager and his counterpart Neil Pugmire, Communications Manager from Portsmouth Diocese.
