Downstairs - modern and rustic. Great service. Really enjoyed the food.

Whenever we are in Edinburgh we eat at Divino (says it all!) at least once with family and friends. The food is superb, the menu varied, with wine by the bottle -- many very reasonably priced -- or by the glass from cruvenet-style taps for a minimum 10£ voucher that can buy multiple glasses. Service and ambiance are top notch but seemingly effortless. It's not unpretentious but still extremely friendly. There are several restaurants in the building so make sure your at the bottom-most at 5 Merchant St., though entry is convenient from the sister restaurant, Vittoria, on George IV Bridge. Reservations recommended.

Sat in the 'Enoteca' part of the restaurant which is dubbed as the less fancy more relaxed bit but in reality seemed the nicest bit. However you will need to take quite a walk up two flights of stairs (or lift) to the toilet. Decor and atmosphere was great and the staff very friendly and attentive. The main dishes we had were tasty. Olives were a bit disappointing though and the wine tasting flight felt overpriced for fairly average wine. The by-the-glass wine menu is however great so I'd recommend you have 2-3 small glasses of wine that you know you'll like, or at the waiter's recommendation.

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner for two at this wonderful restaurant. All the staff are welcoming and passionate about their work. In particular, our waiter Miguel was happy to discuss the dishes with us and provided effortless friendly and professional service, and the sommelier gave honest and friendly advice - not intimidating at all for two people new to wine appreciation! Although the restaurant is formal in appearance, the atmosphere is relaxed and is really part of a conversation between staff and customers about the enjoyment of great food and wine.

My friend and I Stumbled across this little gem on a weekend trip to Edinburgh. Although a busy Saturday night (9pm), we were greeted and welcomed (even with no booking) squeezed in. Food, service and ambience fabulous, we will absolutely be back

We felt we were charged for things which we said 'No' to. Waiter was pushy. We said no to bread and still it was put on our table. Olives and parmesan cheese with Balsamic were charged for. We weren't told that this was all chargeable...

This is a fantastic piece of Italy in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff are charming and attentive, super ambiance and options for casual drinks or a romantic night out. Love it.
