Press Launch today at Dr Neil’s Garden for ‘Growing Gardens’ a joint project between the Scottish Storytelling Centre and Scotland Garden Centre. What a lovely day for stories in the garden and Strawberry Cream Teas. A big Thank You to The Garden Room for letting us use their facility.

User

Sadly our lovely weeping willow did not escape the storm.

User

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the whisky tasting 25/9. The rescheduled date will be on the website once arranged.
Here are some pictures from the last event to get you in the mood ...

Warm wet weather brings out the ‘Witches Butter’ or, less appealingly ‘Dogs Vomit Fungus’! One of the many types of fungi appearing in the garden at the moment. It’s proper name? Fuligo septica- it grows on rotten wood, here on an old tree stump but can also be found on leaves and stems of living plants. Spores are dispersed by beetles!

Dr Neil’s Garden Autumn Festival Sunday 16th September 14:00 – 17:00
Join us for our annual Autumn Festival on Sunday 16 September from 14:00 until 17:00.

... The Tower will also be open during the same hours.
The Riding of the Marches will come along Old Church Lane around 15:00. see http://edinburghridingofthemarches.com/ed inburgh-riding-of-…
This commemorates the tradition of inspecting the city’s boundaries and re-enacts the Captain of the Trained Band’s return to the city with news of defeat at the Battle of Flodden in 1513. After 1707 this annual inspection route ended until after the Second World War.

Wild bird feeding station!

User

As per a previous post, after a x-ray we determined that the Horse Chestnut tree at the entrance was so diseased that it was a health risk.
This has been removed (see picture) and we now have a significant woodpile, £10 barrow or £20 per cross section

Took my 9 year old to see the Garden today. Asked him what he thought about it he said "Inspiring"

He just wants to grow flowers this year, has been growing lots of different things the last few years.

We had a lovely time

User

This is a lovely spot to visit for a peaceful time. It grows lovelier as the years go by. I've been going for years. 😊

User

Such a lovely peaceful visit to Dr Neil's Garden today with my son. This is a very special, calming and inspiring place.

User

Slightly difficult to find and somewhat small, a more delightful garden could hardly be imagined. Botanical delights around every corner and quiet, charming places to just sit and enjoy the beauty.

User

Shame 5 *'s are the most you can give. Have walked by the garden over the last 14 years without knowing it was there! What an amazing find, Secret Garden in the extreme. Will be making lots of visits to make up for those I've missed over the years

User

It's a place for peace and reflection. Very good for meditation and for the soul.

I took my grandchildren and they loved exploring all the different pathways. The little bridge and of course the stream was a big attraction. Well worth visiting , so peaceful
