About Drawing The Street

Lively architectural drawings of our historic townscapes, capturing detailed and engaging views of the overlooked parts of our streets.

Drawing The Street Description

I love drawing and I love old buildings! I have brought these two loves together by drawing the streets in and around built conservation areas, starting with my adopted home town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

By drawing with a conservation architect's eye, I hope to capture the historic and architectural features that give a town its character and sense of place. The drawings present the street as an architectural elevation, full length, in proportion and to scale to enable us to see buildings from a fresh and often surprising perspective.

Simplifying these older buildings down to their original architectural form, allows us to see their elegance and shows how even the plainer old buildings can hold their place on our streets.

I devote much time to ensuring the drawings are an accurate representation of the street, so that the drawings stand as a true record for the future.

Prints, cards and postcards are available for sale through Newcastle-under-Lyme library, Newcastle Borough Museum and Gallery and directly by contacting me or via my website www. drawingthestreet. co. uk

I welcome any feedback about the history of any of the buildings that I have drawn, so please get in touch, I would love to hear from you!
