Dumfries & Galloway Youth Council Description

This page is dedicated to giving you updates on all things Scottish Youth Parliament related in Dumfries and Galloway.

SYP, established in 1999, is an organisation made up of over 150 young people aged 14-25 from across Scotland who are elected by their peers (aged S1-25) every two years.

They meet three times a year at different venues across the country to debate motions, decide on campaigns and bring local issues to light in a national forum.

The most important work an MSYP does is engaging with young people locally to find out their concerns and working alongside them to change the picture.

In June this year our newly-elected MSYPs took post:

Emily Davies as returning MSYP for Dumfriesshire
&
Emma Currie & Neal McCulloch as MSYPs for Galloway & West Dumfries

MSYPs are supported by Dumfries & Galloway Council's Youth Work Service.
