So I'd like everyone to know after a weekend of searching for the next taxi I finally found one. It's passed its test today and I'll be out as normal at the weekend.

My new car (Skoda) has been sent back for a full refund so currently trying to find a new taxi whilst fighting for compensation.
Don't worry though as my phone has been diverted to another taxi company within Dumfries who will be willing to take you anywhere you want.

Hi everyone. A little update. Yesterday Dumfries Taxi was the proud owner of a Skoda Octavia with a high trim level as to keep our customers comfortable. Today it is in the garage broken down after 24hrs of ownership. Sadly this means we will not be operating over the weekend. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi all these are the current plates displayed on the rear of all Private Hire Cabs and Taxis.
White is the Galloway Plate for Taxis out with 7 miles of Dumfries. This can not pick you up off the street within Dumfries.
Green is the Dumfries Plate which can pick you up off the street within Dumfries and 7 miles radius out with Dumfries. (The plate we have at Dumfries Taxi) this is limited to 70 plates.
... Yellow is the a private hire only and can not pick you up off the street. You'll also notice no private hire vehicles have a roof sign either.
All drivers also carry a badge showing that they can legally drive the vehicle and must be produced when asked even by a customer.

Last night whilst working I caught an illegal taxi driver operating in Dumfries. He was picking up strangers not friends.
Please remember licensed taxis are routinely checked (or at least should be) and not only do they go through an MOT once a year but also a Taxi Test through the council every 6 months.
Drivers are checked and licensed through the Council for your protection too.
... This is for your safety please don't risk it by using a random person in a random car. Always check the rear of the car for a Green Yellow or White plate with a license number and Dumfries and Galloway Council logo.
