In the event that this weather warning is amended, any significant updates, pertinent to Dunbar, will be posted both here and to our Instagram page.

Dunbar Coastguard and North Berwick Coastguard were tasked this morning to investigate an object at Belhaven Bay.
... A member of the public called the Coastguard as they were unsure as to what the object was and that it may pose a risk.
Once on scene, Coastguards were able to confirm this was in fact an old mooring which had been washed ashore and posed no risk.
The informant did the right thing by calling to advise the Coastguard.
The item is still in situ at Belhaven Bay due to its weight.
If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.

Dunbar Coastguard and Dunbar RNLI Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) we’re tasked this afternoon alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service to a fisherman with a suspected broken leg on the rocks at Skateraw.
... The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) were also on scene.
The casualty was packaged into a stretcher and recovered from the beach, with the aid of RNLI personnel, to a waiting ambulance.
Remember when angling from rocks that they can be dangerous and slippery so consider whether there is anywhere safer to fish. Because there is little to hold onto even a small wave can knock you over or wash you off and into the sea. - Wear a suitable flotation device. - Check weather and tidal conditions. - Tell a shore contact where you are going and when you intend to be back. - Wear suitable footwear such as stout walking boots (waders or Wellington boots are not suitable). - Take a mobile phone with you.
If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.

Dunbar Coastguard, North Berwick Coastguard, Eyemouth Coastguard, Berwick Coastguard, Senior Coastal Operations Officer (SCOO) S04A, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199, Dunbar RNLI Inshore Lifeboat (ILB), Eyemouth All-weather Lifeboat (ALB) and St Abbs Lifeboat were tasked this afternoon on behalf of Police Scotland to a sea swimmer who was unaccounted for after 3 hours in the water at Barns Ness.
... Coastguards conducted a ‘hasty search’ of the immediate area around the swimmers last seen position while the Coastguard Officer in Charge (OiC) formulated a Search Plan. As Coastguards regrouped for a search briefing, a sea swimmer was spotted by RNLI personnel off White Sands. The swimmer was taken to shore by Dunbar ILB and confirmed by East Lothian Police to be the missing person.
The swimmer stated they had planned to be in the water for even longer and there was no cause for concern.
We never put a price on human life. If we get a 999 call we treat it as real. We encourage people to call us if they see someone in trouble, even if they’re not sure whether they are or not. Calling 999 in these cases is always the right thing to do. We’re out there to save lives. You can’t put a price on that. We don’t want people to second-guess themselves. Even a few minutes’ hesitation could mean the difference between life and death. Search and Rescue resources will always be used rather than risk loss of life. If we think someone’s in danger or in trouble we will always search for them and rescue them if it’s needed.
