Next Sunday Definitely not to be missed! Chances to be in such great scholars company are hard to come by. Make the most of it and don’t miss out in attending such a blessed gathering. 8 students will be completing their memorisation of the Quran and Alhamdulillah one of them is a girl.... She’s the first girl in our madrasah to complete Hifz of the Quran. A milestone and a great achievement for our madrasah.
And also Alhamdulillah after months of construction, our superb new Madrasah building will also be opening while the sports complex work is still ongoing and will InshaAllah be ready in a couple of months where the Masjid will be offering sports activities and training. InshaAllah Iftar will be provided at the Masjid tomorrow (Thursday 20th) for the fast of Ashura 10th Muharram. Suhoor 4:42am Iftar 7:21pm.
'Ashura' commemorates the day that Allah saved the Children of Israel from Pharaoh.
... Fasting on Muharram 10, known as the Day of 'Ashura', expiates for the sins of the past year.
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah in 622 CE, he found that the Jews there fasted on Muharram 10 and asked them the reason for their fasting on this day. They said," This is a blessed day. On this day Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy (in Egypt) and so Prophet Musa [Moses] fasted on this day giving thanks to Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
"We are closer to Musa than you are."
He fasted on that day and commanded Muslims to fast on this day. (Al-Bukhari) The following year, Allah commanded the Muslims to fast the month of Ramadan, and the fasting of 'Ashura' became optional. It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to fast on the ninth and tenth. Ulama mention that we can also fast on the 10th and 11th Muharram.

On behalf of my husband and I, I would like to express many thanks for the hospitality extended to us this afternoon as part of Doors Open Day.
An interesting and informative afternoon, presented in a nice relaxed fashion with sincere warmth.
... Each of the 'tour guides' was welcoming and quite clearly keen to share their knowledge and their faith.
I hope events like this continue to bring communities together and debunk common misconceptions. I certainly left with much more understanding than I entered the building with and I have no doubt this will be the experience of all who visited.
Thanks again for sharing your place of worship, your faith and your wonderful food with us.
