Dundee Opsoc Description
OpSoc is Dundee University’s longest standing Society dedicated to musical theatre, staging one major musical, one weekend show and several concerts every year. Performing isn't the only thing on OpSoc's agenda with social events throughout the year providing an enjoyable environment for all our members.
Following our recent hit productions of The Addams Family, Jekyll and Hyde, Evita, Spring Awakening and Jesus Christ Superstar - this year our main production will be Heathers the Musical performing in March 2016.
HEATHERS THE MUSICAL is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J. D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass… but J. D. has another plan for that bullet.
As well as our main production OpSoc also puts on a show in just one weekend, with auditions on the Thursday and the performance on the Sunday. The Weekend Show is fun and challenging for the whole company and after the success of our first weekend show High School Musical, OpSoc will be performing Annie in September 2015.
