One of the defining features of the Dundee Debating Union is its ability to welcome and support students from all educational backgrounds and ages, regardless of their previous experience in debating.

We pride ourselves on providing a no-pressure environment in which someone may grow from merely attending and listening to our weekly public debates, to building their confidence and public speaking skills in our workshops, to feeling fully comfortable in signing up for external debating competitions.

With diverse and often challenging topics such as philosophy, current affairs, feminism and environmental issues, the debates are always intellectually stimulating, and frequently have experts on the topics contributing speeches.

Work on your skill of being able to communicate innovative arguments quickly and coherently, your critical thinking and skills of persuasion. Then, relax with a pint and free pizza and cheesy nachos in our sponsor pub, Medina (113 Nethergate, DD1 4DH).

Above all, we love a good laugh, so all you need to bring is your sense of humour!
