Dundee University Rucksack Club Description

Hill walking? Climbing? Mountaineering?

If any of the above sounds like it’s your sort of thing then DURC is the club for you! The rucksack club is one of the biggest sports clubs within the University - and infact one of the biggest outdoor clubs in the country - often with as many as 150 members. Consequently we have a wide variety of people in our ranks, from those interested in valley walks to munro-baggers, keen mountaineers and ice climbers and everything inbetween! Whatever your level of interest you're bound to find someone within the club who shares your aspirations.

Our membership is also very varied, with a mixture of students, alumni, postgraduates, staff and others from outside the University altogether, so don't assume that you won't be welcome if you're not a Dundee Uni student!

Never done this sort of thing before? No problem! The club has a wealth of experience that we are more than willing to share. This could be in the form our free introductory climbing sessions held at the indoor wall in Dundee, our annual Winter Experience meet or just having a chat whilst out on the hill or over a few pints in the pub.

Whether you're an experienced hillwalker or climber looking to spread your wings or a complete beginner to the outdoors just interested in getting out there and seeing what Scotland (and further afield) has to offer, the rucksack club will offer you great opportunities for fun and adventure.
