I got to see the film ‘Dyslexia: Educate Me' in Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts. This is an amazing support organisation. It’s fabulous to see this organisation continue to educate and support today’s society. The children especially as peer pressure is tough with social media, majority of them just want to fit in, feel accepted and don’t embrace difference as much as we as parents would like them too.

I was not educated about it, as I myself had misconceptions about individuals who had difficulty reading and writing, like people with dyslexia aren’t smart. Even when I knew this wasn’t true, I still found it difficult within the first few years to say “I have dyslexia.”

As we know dyslexia and intelligence are NOT connected. Many dyslexic individuals are very bright and creative and have accomplished many many many amazing things as adults.

Seeing the movie yesterday and having the discussion with the cast afterwards has encouraged me to share my story with young people , I will be truly happy if i inspire one to feel confident enough to talk about and share their experiences.
