Dyslexia Tutor Support East Lothian Description
For most of my professional life I have taught and tutored students of all ages and in all sectors – primary, secondary, further education and both undergraduate and post graduate university students. My initial teacher training was in both primary and secondary education (English and History). Later I was awarded a teaching qualification for Further Education. I am registered with the G. T. C.
I have a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) and this in conjunction with my teaching qualifications means I am entitled to be an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association.
Now self-employed, keeping in touch with the latest developments in both theory and practice is important to me. Continuing professional development and demonstrated professional practice is recognized in a Teaching Practice Certificate, renewable every three years.
My interest in dyslexia grew when two of my now adult children were identified as being dyslexic. I have experienced how each new stage in a dyslexic young person’s life presents a new set of challenges – for both child and parents!
Over the years I have come to fully realize that each individual dyslexic child and adult is exactly that – an individual – each with his or her unique strengths and talents.
