The new recycling bins are rubbish. Whoever got the backhander for these should be sacked. We're a small family but our plastics bin, which is emptied on a Friday is full by Monday!! Bring back the blue bin as well as I don't want to have to store cardboard in my house till the next bin empty day. I can't leave it outside it'll get soaked!! Shocking....no council of the year for you this year. Shocking decision.....

User

my blue bin sitting outside the house five weeks, waiting for collection, several phone calls and promises from @Eastayrshirecouncil I have today asked the bin men nicely if I emptied the bin personally could be take away the cardboard inside. To be Told NO .... what a joke If i someone to help me lift the bin into the back of my car I would go and dump it to the council offices right now !!

User

lack of communication ,never a straight response always passing the buck ,and the list could go on,so just a 1 from me

User

You lifted my blue bin 2 weeks ago and never replaced with one of your stupid trolleys! I have called twice now, latest being this morning only to be told you are short on resource! Sorry, that ain’t my problem, get one of your lazy incompetent managers or anyone else for that matter to stick it in the back of their car and bring it round! PS - your meant to open at 9am but couldn’t get through to anyone until 10 past and got a Hello...

Whos idea is it for kids from all over kilmarnock to walk to the new high school, my boy is in Bellfield, and it took me a grown adult 68 minutes to walk his proposed route, plus part of the route was closed today due to a body being found in the Bellfield estate, can you expect kids between 11 and 17 to walk the over 3.2 miles, which, 3 miles is the supposed cut off to qualify for a free bus, so why no busses

User

Whoever designed the new trolley bins needs to have a good hard look at their design....summer winds n streets are a mess with them having fell over....bin men don’t pick up the blown rubbish so now streets are a mess dread to think what it will be like come winter n Storm Bertha hits again

User

Well east Ayrshire you employ some of the laziest bin men around put a large cardboard box out for collection with the general waste as it wasn’t taken with the recycling day I assume that it wasn’t taken due to being sat on top of the bin rather than inside as it was to big for both the bin and the ridiculously small blue box cheers for your help

User

Too many people at the top of the tree with no experience of the shop floor.

It used to be you started at the bottom of the the ladder and moved up gaining experience in all the jobs on the way up.

Now it seems to be if you go to University and get papers to say you can do the job you get it.

Other thing when anyone makes a big mistake in the real world they would get there books

It looks to the general public that if you work E A C. You are BULLET PROOF.

User

The new trolley system is not fit for purpose, the guys push it in one side of the Lorry and when it fills up it comes out the other side, ( Crazy)

The operatives that collect the bins are not all on the same wage, the moral of the work force is not good, I believe they have complained to the person in charge both at Cumnock depot and they are told if you dont like the conditions of the job there's the door , there are plenty of people who will do your job, from what I hear the Commander, ( lets call him that at Kilmarnock) is just as bad.

I sympathize with the lads doing the job, they complain that the wagons are not fit for purpose but no one listens to them, whats more there union rep is frightened to open his mouth as he's been working for the council for 20 odd years. Its the old case of some dumbo in an office thinking up a new idea but not responding to the workers on the ground when it doesn't work.

Please Bring back the old system with the large bin where when the bin was lifted at the back of the wagon it all I repeat ALL went into the lorry.

This was meant to be a trial system, well let me tell you it's not working, so be the bigger man , woman or person as they say nowadays and concede that it just doesn't work and the public will respect you more for that.

How much have you wasted on this system, probably about 3 million pounds of taxpayers money,.....Now why not do it right and invest in the system that they use in Australia. Now that would be progress. Just google garbage truck in Australia and see how to do the job properly

Now waken up and do something right for a change and regain the respect of your public, after all its our money you are spending! And we dont want your silly trolley system

User

Plumbers do half a job, only got water downstairs till Friday so I got told to bath my baby in the kitchen sink when I’ve only got cold water. Totally useless, wont empty my bins because it’s full due to nappies, no wear to put my rubbish! Failed to inspect my house properly before moving in, every week I’ve phoned with a complaint and always get passed from pillar to post. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made was getting a council house!

User

New trolley system !! All the money spent on this and bin men don't even put boxes back on the trolley so they are left to blow everywhere . Changed days for bin men paid for What? Oh and not just my street I've just dropped kids to school and having to dodge loose bins n rubbish!

User

My trolley bin went flying in the wind today and I ended up chasing paper and plastic all over the place....I am not impressed! Bring back the blue bin and put all the recycling in it as North Ayrshire do.

User

Just had one of their bin men shout "fuck me" after I had to squeeze out of a space that their lorry blocked me into after they watched me get into my car, would have had to wait for them to do the whole street if I hadn't had squeezed out, also they miss the nappy bin most weeks and last year hit my car with the green bin

User

Just had my new trolley emptied 10 mins ago. Bearing in mind I know it has been a windy night but all my rubbish was still contained when being emptied. I have gone out straight away to bring emptied bins in and have had to pick up 3 plastic trays which have been left lying! Worker just stood and looked at me. Absolutely disgusting considering the amount on council tax we are being charged! Some of the workers need a good shake!!!!!

User

East Ayrshire council charge my other half £15 to collect our bins at my old flat. They then sent a message to say the bins where not there. My landlord was working in the cafe below and confirms the bin is out front. East Ayrshire has robbed us. We have requested 4 times to have this bin removed. Who did they pay to win best council of the year?

User

Dosen’t deserve even 1 star. I am disabled and have received my new bins. I use 2 sticks to walk and could manage to tip rubbish into my original bins, with little difficulty.Even then I thought as we had so much rain and snow a covered, larger container for plastic and glass would have been more sensible?

Unfortunately sense and Kilmarnock council don’t go hand in hand and the idiots at the council have now given me a trolley consisting of 3 inaccessible “tiny” stacking boxes which I struggle to use.....

I received a large box from amazon last week? What am I to do I do with it? I can’t fold it and there is no way even with a degree in origami I can squeeze it in??? As I said I’m disabled and my life is not easy so I will not even attempt to squash it in to the ridiculous little box thus the card will get soggy and wet and will disintegrate at the side of my house or it will blow over the garden into the road. Thus in consideration of my neighbours I shall attempt to stuff it into the only bin large enough to take it. The general rubbish bin.

This will see an end to my attempts to recycle and most other people I know have advised they will do the same?

Question? What “thought” went into this ridiculous recycling idea?

What idiot in Kilmarnock Council is responsible?

This is another waste of taxpayers money .

Other councils in Scotland (ie Stirling) are giving customers larger covered bins which have seen customers better able to recycle but as usual kilmarnock is falling short in giving its customers a workable service. This will be a disaster!

User

Congratulations East Ayrshire Council in your new recycling system, my black box has been missed three times due to your operators clearly in the need of a visit to specsavers but I persevered and awaited my first collect this morning of the new trolley system thinking if would sort it self out..

Guess what?.. Trolley emptied and black bin left, why? cause the bin contained a couple of glass items from over three weeks ago which would not have been their has you did the job correctly first time...

I'm clearly not the only household with this issue as I look up and down my street I see several black bins just left due to households mixed glass/cans collections..

It will be very interesting to see his long the new system lasts..

User

Bring back the blue bin!!!! These recycling trolleys are useless!! So now I have 2 wheel bins, a trolley, a red box, a black box and a food bin!!! Where am I ment to keep all these bins???? Oh and nowhere to put cardboard bigger than an egg box so I have to run to the skip constantly!!!! Real kicker is you increased my council tax!!!!!!

User

As a dedicated recycler I thought i need to give some feedback about your new recycle bins. I have purchased recycle bins that have corresponding colour tops that fit inside my kitchen cupboard thus allowing me to recycle correctly before even taking out to the bins. I had a great system and thus very little ever went into my green bin, I suppose you could call me the ideal household, every piece of waste went where it should go.

Unlike most people I did not view the new recycle trolley with the same negativity that most people did, anything that encouraged more recycling is good in my books - and I take it the huge amount of money spent on these bins was to encourage more recycling. After all weekly recycling bin lift surely shows that you want more people to recycle.

However if this was the case why oh why are the recycle boxes so small. I would take it that I'm no different from most household saying that plastic is my biggest waste, every thing you buy now a days it wrapped in some form of plastic. Previously my red bin being the fullest each time it is emptied.

I have tried hard to continue with my dedicated sorting of waste and when my internal bin is full I take it out to my recycle trolley but now tin cans also have to go into the red bin as well meaning my waste no longer fits inside the red box. I have a similar sized grey bin now for glass only which is going out nearly empty each week, we dispose of very little glass apart from a few jars we don't really have glass, we don't drink alcohol so no heavy amount of bottles???

Cardboard is my next biggest waste and my large blue bin was great, most items from the supermarket alas comes with soft cardboard and the plastic film, so along with newspapers and letters (large amounts of junk mail) my blue box was also very full each time, unfortunately too much each week for the little blue box I have on my trolley.

With much dismay this week I ended up having to put excess recycle that I had sorted inside my house into my green bin as the trolley boxes just are not big enough, this upset me dearly as with a busy work life recycle is my small way of giving back to the environment.

I am sure I am not the only person upset that the recycle trolley are hindering my ability to recycle and I'm sure that I cannot also be the only person that now has no option but to put recycle into my green bin - thus having the exact opposite effect that this exercise was meant to have when you decided spending my hard earned money - I pay council tax to fund this - on something that appears not to have been well planned, though out or even trialled before going live.

Other small niggles-

a) I have a internal bin with a black lid that is no longer of use, suppose I need a grey bin now - any reason for a colour change, or was it just to upset the system further???

b) I like to keep my bins outside in a tidy bin storage hidden away - no one wants a row on bins in their garden - however alas the recycle bin is too tall to fit in any more, so its sits outside like an ugly bloat on my once tidy landscape.

c) As a lady in her 50s but very fit an active, I thought the reported heavy weight of these bins would not affect me - ah no - very hard to manoeuvre, wider than my path so the wheel end up going over the edge and make it ever harder to move.

d) The little flaps are useless, and you end up lifting the boxes off the trolley to put you rubbish in, so it lies nice and flat and allows more waste in each box - great when the boxes are empty but very difficult lifting it back onto the trolley when the boxes are full.

My little rant is over, and I don't expect anyone to listen to it, I mean you've got my money what ever my opinion is - I have no control whatsoever!!!

My control will be to change my vote at the next election - a vote that has remained unchanged all my adult voting life - I suppose everything needs to change and If I can stop recycling because of these boxes then I can easily stop voting for the idiots that put this unusable expensive system in place.........
