/ The speakers
Can Tourism be Sustainable? Are tourism and sustainability natural bedfellows? Many would be inclined to respond “no”. We may need to step back a little and reflect, though: For instance, can there be socially sustainable accommodation-sharing solutions? Nikolaos Papadogiannis (Bangor University) will discuss credible alternatives to AirBnB.
Is Energy Transition an Easy Step? We have both drastic climate change and increasing energy demands. The transition from carbon based (fossil fuel) energy systems to more sustainable forms of energy is an absolute need. But this transition involves scientific, technological and socio-economical changes. Elli-Maria Charalampidou (Heriot-Watt University) asks: Are we ready for these changes?
Fake News Kills World! Before going mainstream in 2016, fake news was used for decades mainly to attack climate science. Richard Milne (The University of Edinburgh) busts those climate myths and explores the new, growing dangers that fake news poses for our planet.
/ Accessibility
ECCI is fully wheelchair accessible and induction loops are installed for people with hearing impairments. You can find our more about accessibility at the University of Edinburgh website.
