Members of the British Acupuncture Council have completed a 3,600 hour, degree level training in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. Many have done a postgrad to deepen a special interest. If your practitioner also practices Chinese Herbal Medicine, they have done another 2 years to get a diploma or masters degree. We are talking 5 to 6 years study minimum. Sorry for the rant but a wee reminder is sometimes necessary. No personal offense to “dry-needlers” but calling what they do acupuncture is somehow misleading. (FYI, the practice of dry-needling by physical therapist is illegal in 27 American states).
