Well thats about half way through winter 2020 and like most its a bit of roller coaster ride, memorable for different reasons, conditions, clients etc. The storm cycles keep coming which is good for winter conditions in general but hard work if your out in them. Make the most of the good ones! Some photos so far, big thanks for the work. 😀

Early Halloween route today with Bill, Pygmy Ridge was in fine early season conditions, hoared up rock and turf frozen(2 bits left). Good to see other teams out climbing in the corrie making the most of it. Strong SSE wind kept us moving, back at the car for 1.30pm and then spooky coffees in Tiso. Great day out, cheers Bill! 😄

A great couple of days just after New Year with Adrian, Nat & Owen. Our winter skills day planned for the West didnt quite go to plan with the lack of snow but we made upfor it with a scrambly day on Curved Ridge in Glencoe, cold and dry. Day 2 and we headed into Coire Sneachda and climbed Alladins Couloir which was thin and just complete with a 30ft runnel of water ice. We topped out through a cloud inversion😁.

Winter work has started, hopefully the winter weather will start again this week. Came across this article on the changing/moving magnetic field in the Northern hemisphere which obviously could have a knock on effect to our hill navigation. Worth a read!

Some great work done below by Mountain Training Scotland and SCQF, this gives some relevance to kids leaving school who are thinking of or are interested in a job in the outdoors. It is a "real" job 😃

Some photos from the Summer and Autumn, it's been busy, starting to focus now on Winter 2018/19, kit, website and bookings. Learning never stops, lots of training booked in from now until New Year. Some forecasts are already suggesting the first cold spell from next weekend?

Some photos of my recent work with The Covesea Caves Project. 3 great weeks looking after archaeology staff from Bradford University, lots of digging and finds, fascinating process from opening a trench to back filling it. Just to keep me on my toes over the dig, a huge gorse fire which broke out above the caves and to finish things off Storm Hector yesterday. Thank you to all the staff for looking after themslves in such a dynamic tidal environment. More info - www.coveseacavesproject.wordpress.com

Photos from last week's climbing course at #glenmorelodge. A mix of guided and learning to lead climbing, challenging conditions and some new venues in Geall Charn and Meall Gorm, Applecross.

Some photos of winter work and play so far. This winter is turning out to be a good one, having had a wild couple of weeks it's great to finally have some blue bird days with the snow conditions settling down. It's not over, with a pulse of very cold Easterly air and hopefully snow approaching over the next couple of weeks. Climbing conditions are good just now and could be exceptional through March. I have the week Mar 26-30 still available, fantastic climbing conditions could also be available.
