We went this morning with 3 children (aged 3, 3 and 4). They had a 30 minute session with 2 instructors and loved it! The instructors were fantastic with them. The layout of the children’s climbing area is fantastic - it has a castle, dinosaurs and a slide. They had pictures of animals on the wall for kids to climb up to. We will definitely be back!

VERDICT: An incredible venue!

We had our first road trip from Carlisle this weekend, heading up to see the new wall. We've been blown away!

The guys have done an incredible job. To say they have embraced the term 'go big or go home' is an understatement. This is a bouldering facility that does everything huge and does it perfect right out of the gate.

The setting is amazing. We found immediately there's a cool range of climbs, ranging from flowing and techy to strong and powerful. A bit of something for everyone. Another thing we found was an acute awareness of the walls angles when setting and interesting uses of edges, palms etc. It all comes down to clever problem setting, these guys know their trade and they do it well!

The walls have been very well thought out. It's something that's often overlooked but the subtle angle shifts make for unique climbing challenges and keep it fresh as you navigate around the centre. One minute your set of climbs will see you completing a climb on a vert wall then next you'll be working your way out of a mega cave roof! Over to a slab, then topping out with a hardcore mantle. And that's something else to mention. The top out boulder is an amazing feature, not just because it offers an obvious dynamic but because it too is made of a variety of angles on the top meaning different challenges and opportunities. Variety is the name of the game!

The kids area is too cool!!! For craglets, this is a well thought out area that allows parents and instructors to keep young climbers safe while presenting them with all of the features the adults have only with a cool castle and slide to boot.

The shop and cafe area is ideal for chilling, overlooking hall 1 (just in case you need to nab a bit of beta while watching with a brew).

Other features include an excellent gym/ training area with lots of warm up space for large groups, a sofa'd chillout area and the most important... the lovely team of staff!!!

I cannot recommend this centre enough to you. Our 'local' is Eden Rock Carlisle hence the reason we were desperate to head over the border to check it out and it's everything we know and love supersized!

User

This place is seriously great. Since moving to Edinburgh from Colorado I hadn't found a gym I liked as much as my bouldering gym back home, but this place literally surpasses all of them. The setting is great, really fun movements on every problem. The staff have been super friendly, and the space is HUGE. Not to mention, they have a chill cafe upstairs with food and drinks. Beats all the competition.

User

The best just got better. My daughter has climbed at Eden Rock Carlisle since she was 6 (5yrs ago). Went through school of rock and climbing team. The walls and settings are second to none for enjoying yourself or pushing yourself to improve. There is something for everyone and if the coaching is as good as it is at Carlisle then it will be the place to take any budding youngsters

User

Such a great space and the staff were so friendly! So happy that there's a new wall in this area, we had a great time today, could have easily spent a few more hours here!

User

Such a fab wall!

Epic setting, super thoughtful facilities and a great atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and the coffee is tasty tasty. So much climbing to do, I’ve only scratched the surface! We will be back

User

So. many. climbs. Catering for total beginners to World Cup competitors. Friendly, knowledgable staff happy to help and a useful gym space for a post session stretch. Looking forward to watching additional spaces opening up and improving my grades.

User

It's great to finally have a bouldering venue of this calibre in Edinburgh!

Lots of space, quality problem setting, fantastic coffee (very important) and the tunes are pretty rad too. Big fan.

User

I usually boulder at Eden Rock Carlisle and my son was keen to have a trip up here as a treat. I was intrigued to compare the two walls since Eden Rock Carlisle is an excellent venue. Could Edinburgh live up to those expectations?

To start with the staff are just as friendly as the staff in Carlisle and since we knew how things worked (roughly) we were given a brief introduction by Laura, who was one of the excellent members of staff. For people who aren't familiar with Eden rocks walls or climbing full inductiond are available or the staff are always on hand to help.

The coffees are good as is the food and the shop is stocked with good quality items that boulderers need, from chalk to clothing. There is also a warm up area and a mini gym.

The main differences between the two venues is that Eden Rock Edinburgh is bigger. Despite that both wall hold to a very high standard in the most important factor at a bouldering wall, that is the quality of the climbing.

In this respect Eden Rock Edinburgh's boulder problems are excellent. Just like Eden Rock Carlie they are well set, and, whatever your experience you will enjoy the problems at the level you want to climb at. As I wanted to do as many climbs as I could I stuck to whites and blues and left the hardest two circuits alone. After 4 hours I couldn't do anymore but had had a great time and two of the problems actually made me smile as I was doing them. I'm sure the easier circuits and the harder ones would be just has good.

Come along as you'll have a great time if you are a beginner and get a great training session in if you are more experienced. Whatever level.you are at yoully have fun in a nice environment with friendly people!

User

Great place and location. Loads to do(even for an old duffer like me!) Will definitely be back.

User

Great bouldering venue with more routes than you can handle. All the facilities you need to become a beast boulderer. Biggest and best in Town.

User

First time bouldering and enjoyed it massively. I usually climb with ropes and found the idea of climbing without ropes too hard to try, however the challenge wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be (I only fell a few times). I'll be coming back for more again soon as this is great for conditioning and technique.

User

Fantastic wall. Extremely well set, as in Carlisle. Very friendly staff. Great for beginners to world class boulderers. Well done Micky, Rosie and team another Great Wall.

User

Excellent and varied setting across all grades. Great space and really helpful staff/instuctors. Also a really good option for kids parties.

User

Did my induction today and as a novice I can say the staff and facilities are fantastic and a real asset to the local area. I will definitely be back and look forward to my kids trying out the classes.

User

Crucial flaw is it's not 5 minutes from my door. Everything else is ace. Even without circuit walls and full woodies in place it's still brilliant, and carries on the essential Eden Carlisle tradition of lots of subtle angles, good and skin-friendly holds, and technical and thought-provoking setting. Vibes in room 1 are a bit lacking but once it's all finished that will be spot on. Could do with a bigger and more exciting sign outside too maybe!

User

Brilliant place, good for all levels! Thanks Eden Rock for two excellent venues!

User

Brilliant new climbing wall and a massive asset to Central Belt, Lothian and Edinburgh areas.

The boulder routes cater for everyone from complete novices to elite level and the dedicated kids' climbing area is a hit with the wee ones.

The staff are super friendly, safety concious, knowledgeable and on hand to answer any queries.

Highly recommended especially if you've never tried this climbing or bouldering thing before and have always wanted to give it a go!

User

As regulars at Eden Rock Carlisle, we were keen to come up to Edinburgh and we were not disappointed. Same great setting and friendly staff, just more of it. Result!
